its a shame it has a toaster fitted to it.

itll make it a whole lot easier for someone to steal the petrol from your scoot.

whats with the crap horncast and grills?

all they should have done is shoved a 300 engine in the same frame's we have instead of cutting functionless slots in to make it look retro.

the design on the gts250 is perfect anyway. i wonder if we could re-build our 250 engines to the 300 spec?? barrel, bearings, crank, pulleys, etc?
i'd buy one, if it didnt have pointless slits in the side panel.

it should be an option to have the slits or not!.

You got it wrong. The design of the GT200 is perfect. Those slits are a retro gimmick just as the GTS250 carrier is a retro gimmick. And that stupid running light!!!

The GT also has a more attractive tail light.

But I do like the front mudguard ornament of the GTS, and have fitted one to my GT.

the carrier is not a gimmick, it adds to the authentic look of the scooter.

"Authentic look"?

Have you ever ridden behind a GTS with a top box, and watched the box rattle around on that carrier? The GT rack is far better and sturdier if you plan to fit a top box.

Besides, you could also claim that those side grills add to the authentic look, and drum brakes, etc etc.

I've also found it quite handy for carrying things.

But that might just be me.

its very useful.

thats why i like it, i use it alot and its the perfect size for a skateboard to be bungee'd on. Cool

who's gonna use the slots?

i'm not a fan of top boxes, they look awful and make the scoot handle like crap.

We are all entitiled to our opinion,I like the side slits. It make it look similar to the GS`s of yesteryear.I`m sure a lot of riders buy scoots for the style, otherwise why would they choose the GTV over the GTS?

I bet we will get a shite trade in price when that 300 is launched!
Might be better to wait until (if) the big bore kit is available, fit that and get the seat recovered.I agree Dragon red is a real head turner Very Happy
ps My wife likes the top box for leaning back on but I`m selling it and getting a backrest instead. If anyone is interested let me know.Dragon red in very good condition.
I like the rack anyway `cos you can get a case of stella strapped to it and lift the front wheel easier Laughing

Hi guys,

The bad news about the 300 is that it is no quicker than a standard gts 250 - or at least the one we have tried isnt

Ok, more info: I have a GT60 with a PM pipe and my one mate has a standard GTS with a leo pipe. My other mate had a GT125. After seeing and reading about the new 300 and getting excited about the increase in torque both me and my mate with the GT125 ordered one each - both in white. My plan was to semi retire the GT60 and just use on ride outs etc - my mate fancied the 300 as he was fed up of always being last

Last thursday I picked up my mates 300 from yardley (Bham) and rode it back to Walsall as he has thrown his back out and is in agony. I didn't feel - on the ride back - that it was any quicker at all than my GT60.

Later that night we ran some tests on a few quiet roads. From a standing start the 300 is as quick but no quicker than either my GT60 or a GTS.

From 20mph - the 300 was slightly quicker than both but I mean slightly - never getting more than a foot in front of either scooter. My mate is chuffed as it is - obviously - a considerable improvement on his old GT125 and looks the dogs - really nice styling.

For me though I was really disappointed with 'the poke' and expected a lot more - whether it will improve more after 'running in' only time will tell.

So much so, next day I cancelled my 300 - even after buying a bloody new registration plate to go with it - S300 VES!

My conclusion on the 300? A lovely looking scooter and a great upgrade from a 125. If you already have a GTS250...........dont bother unless you are doing it for the aesthetics.

Me? I will wait for hopefully bigger and faster things!

Difficult to compare a brand new scoot to one that has done a few thousand miles and loosened up.

Agree with Smirnoff, but at the end of the day the 300 is actually 278cc, so only 30cc ish, more capacity, what did you expect, wheelies? 100mph? nice looking bike though, interesting to see how many teething troubles the 300 develops, and if Piaggio drop the 250 GTS.
