But back to the main topic... 30,000km on the bottom end wont be an issue anyway, they will take it no question... even if you wanna use a new crank, the bearings should be fine as long as they are within tolerances still.

its 30,000 miles. which is like LOADS more...

i'm gonna replace the big end regardless because its done alot of flat out motorway work.

i think i may have to go the road tune route.

its all abit uncertain so i'm just gonna upgrade my 250.

i've got a list of all the stuff i need to buy. Shocked

bearings, piston + rings, new injection module, power commander from motorsports scooters usa, gaskets, malossi cam, valves and springs, and then theres the driven pulley at the back and the clutch. etc etc.

its gonna be in pieces for about 3 months like while the tranny cover and stuff gets painted up Confused

as long as it'll do a genuine 90mph i'll be happy Very Happy

30,000miles still isnt many on a 4 stroke engine, the bearings dont wear much as they are always swimming in a bath of oil, i know these engines with 80,000km still going strong...

I think Russ had a VX 125 4banger Runner that had done in excess of 50,000 miles in the shop. It was in because the valves had not been adjusted, and had hit the piston Shocked

4 stroke mains last well as lubrication is plentiful... 2 strokes are a different kettle of fish Laughing

Starting to read like a favourite bedtime horror story!

The requirements of putting in new bearings sounds daunting, and Maver's talk of new casings maybe better economically didnt help even if logical!

Reminds me of old Rover cars having heat shrunk in wheel bearings and having to carefully heat them in an oven.

So is Maver's suggestion more practical when this work is needed, and it will be one day?

Cheers

Old Mod. Dont turn the lights off tonight, eh!

the trouble is gts engines are not widely avaliable seperately

i aquired a 200 runner engine easily and i could always get a 125 one and put the 200 top end on anyway

so if you tune tune tune and it goes bang, what you going to do buy a new bike Embarassed
