As I'm sure everyone knows, the standard exhaust doesn't last long. So when I had to re-new I thought I'd go for the stainless steel jobbies. I was told the Scorpion exhaust was best but I had also heard it clashed with the centre stand. So I brought a Leo Vince. It looks really smart with the silver matching my scoot and gives off a nice burbing sound.

The thing is with the standard exhaust my limiter would cut in at 85mph dead. And thats with my bleeding gran dad screen on. Since having the Leo Vince fitted it cuts in around 82mph. I know it's only 3mph but it's a bit disappointing. I have a mate who I believe is on this forum (Andy Rainham Norwich Broadsmen) who has a wider tyre on his and gets 90mph.

Anyone have any idea why I should be going slower with what is supposed to be a performance exhaust. Or am I just unlucky. Crying or Very sad

Smile The rev limiter is to prevent over revving, I cannot see how the exhaust pipe would cause the speed drop so it has to be the belt and maybe rollers need a look?

I'm thinking the same as Darklord, how many miles have you done with the current belt & rollers?

i've got a leo on mine, and the limiter cuts in at just under 90,when i fitted mine it seemed to add @ 4mph,but not straight away!!,after a few miles (50-60ish)it got a bit louder and a bit faster.....so maybe the baffles are packed a bit tight to start with....give it a few miles,it may get quicker!! as above , it could be belt or roller wear or just fit a bigger back tyre to move the limiter a bit

I'm pretty sure I noticed a slightly higher top with the LV on mine (before the baffle dropped out) and again I'm pretty sure I'm noticing a lower top speed now the standard is back on. Only about 3 or 4 mph.

I'm on an MP3 by the way.

Isn't the LV meant to be quicker without the baffle?

So it's as I thought. It's me then. I do about 60 odd miles a day which plus social rides is about 1800 miles a month so i do then to get through back tyre and exhaust. Next time I'll get the PM.

charlie as a thought did you disconnect the battery when you fitted the new pipe as the ecu needs to reset its self to the new pipe

disconnect battery, leave a few mins (cup of tea and a fag) reconnect, start engine and let idle for 10mins, ecu "learns" new pipe Cool
