I would expect 80 mph cruising at least , how steep was the hill? On the dyno charts the limiter seems to cut in at about 86 mph . Perhaps Piaggio have deliberately restricted the engine? _________________ Vespa 300 super BSA Bantam, pushbike |

Mate.....Sorry to hear this.....Talking to Russ at Mersea.....he said that it could take a few thousand miles for the 300? engine to really loosen up.....
Im sure i read somewere that Mark (Shovell) wasnt overly impressed with his to start with Praps have a chinwag with him see if his has improved
Seems strange that the 250 `s bang along at 90 mph yet the 300 is struggling like that mate.....
could be that it just needs more miles _________________

Totally agree. I made some comments regarding the scootering mag article 300 vs 250 in 'what you got'. But to be fair we were always told that there wouldn't be any improvement in top speed, it was all about getting there quicker. _________________ there's nothing here to make me sound cool or interesting |

Perhaps the side vents are overcooling the fuel cell . I am happy with mine but then I have not ridden the 250, it is superb in traffic and quick off the line. I bet some tuner will be getting a ton out of the 300 before long _________________ Vespa 300 super BSA Bantam, pushbike |

How many miles are on the clock now then Gav? my old GTS did not "liven"up until I'd done the best part of 1800-2000 miles.
Anyhow you could always sell it cheap to me and keep the fuoco

It will loosen up the same as the 250s do and it does take quite a few thousand to feel the full effect, and the PM pipe does nothing on the 250 too so don't expect anything on the 300
Weight makes a huge difference.....I should Know ......Your about 10% up on power, are you more than 10% heavier than Tonia ? If so you'll never keep up even when it's slackened off.
Don't let anyone tell you what you should be getting etc. etc. You probably already know that the direction of the wind plays a bigger part in how fast the scoot will go than most other things so what you do today you may not do tomorrow. I've rarely hit the limiter on mine, except when the belt and rollers where knackered. Be patient and don't judge it yet. _________________
