The 200Vx Runner thats shares the same motor as the GT200 is only marginally slower on top end and a bit quicker on acceleration then my GTS250 proved during some long distance racing earlier this year. So a fast GT200 could give a slow 250 a run for its money in my opinion. Shocked

Confused 700miles on the gts 300 super this week end.......remind me again why its super? strugled to hit 80mph on the flat.....hit a hill and it was down to 70mph.....i found it quite disapointing i did expect more....i thought it would be quite a bit bit better than the 250......am i expecting too much?

It just goes to show how much difference size and weight makes. I'm 6 foot tall and weigh 17 stone, and rarely got the speedo much past 70mph on the gts250 tonia now has, yet I think you've said before you thought it was a fast one.

Also I wonder how accurate each speedo really is? Some of the figures quoted by people on here seem ridiculous for standard bikes.

I know that when I first rode the 250 with a group of p ranges a friend on a p210 thought he was crusiing at around 65mph and yet according to my speedo he was doing 50mph.

Sometimes I ride the ducati and think I'm going really fast yet the speedo only says 60mph - so I now think the gts speedo was also a bit out (although being italian also it could be the ducati Smile )

As others have said it will loosen up though so dont fret SmileSmile

I've done 440km on 300 and I'm either getting more confident or she's loosening up. I'm really happy with it, was sitting at 75 on dual carrageway y day. Still plenty more juice left but don't want to push it yet

Wise Claire, expect it to be really loosened by 2000 miles if its anything like the 250...

I'm going for a big performance upgrade over the winter but I dont know if I'll manage it... Loose at least 3 stone..... Embarassed

I've been reading this with interest. I have got the new Nexus 300 and having now clicked the magic 1000km and having opened it up a bit I have found the following. Please bear in mind I have ridden all 3 machines the 250 GTS (1200 miles of riding) and a GTS300 for about 30 miles only and the Nexus 300 for 650 miles.)there is not too much difference betwenn the GTs250 and 300 certainly nothing on the top end.
The nexus however is totally different in more ways that I got time for. essentially its more aero dynamic bigger wheels( the Nexus 300 has a 15" front and 14" back) I have already seen 95 indicated on the clock which was way above the 250 where I only saw 82. It is very much quicker on acceleration and the handling is not even comparable the Nexus of course is much more bike like in its weight distribution and I have to be honest it turns that quick it caught me out a few times at first. I'm 15 1/2 stone so no light weight. I also average around 78 mpg. I think my nexus too has a lot of loosenting up and should get quicker with time.As a matter of interest I also have a 2006 piaggio X8 bog standard with 10,000 on the clock and that is quicker than the GTS's. I was going to get the Fuocco for a forthcoming euro jaunt but changed my mind as I have seen alot that have them have hankered and changed back to 2 wheels.I'm glad I chose the Nexus. I was interested to read that the PM pipe had done nothing on performance improvement, I never had one.So are you saying the PM is £240 quid for a bit of noise and anti corrossion.I'm going for a j.costa on the x8 with leo vinci and new belt... think the X8 250 will benefit and see 90+ quite easily.
Only my personal experiences tho.... each to their own.
