Just fancied a wee moan after being butt-fu**ed by the local bike shop.
I took both wheels off the GTS to get them powdercoated. I took the wheels to Mickey Oates in Glasgow (as its nearest my work). They removed both tyres and I took away the wheels. 2 days later I go back with nice shiny wheels, and a new rear tyre that I got from Moto-tyres.
To refit the Tyres, I got a bill for £50, for what must have taken the guy 10 minutes.
Even after complaining, they said that's what they charge to fit a tyre.
Question - are you really saving money buying tyres online?
BTW, this 'bike' shop was a Piaggio dealer until 3 years ago, and I've bought about 5 Vespas from him in the past. I won't go back.

Takin the wee if you ask me.... Last tyre I bought cost the same as on moto tyres with free fitting and balancing.

I guess the moral of the story is to ask how much 1st.

Been on the phone again to the robbers. They won't budge on the £50 charged. I've also had a quote for £20 max from another bike dealer to do the same work.

Apparently, it's because I brought my own tyre, not supplied by them, so he charges me extra. He has also quoted £25 to fit a tyre to a bike wheel, any bike wheel.

The closing insult... apparently it is really difficult to fit tyres to powdercoated rims, as the slip more.

Just to remind you - Mickey Oates, Suzuki Dealer, Glasgow (used to sell Piaggio but now looks down his nose).
