Right lads, I've removed the shocker from the scoot and taken off the top mounting plate.

Now I'm stuck.

How do I dismantle the shocker further so I can change the spring and clean/paint the rest?

Any info or advice much appreciated. Thanks.

I'll put up some pics when I've submitted 5 posts and the forum's security lets me.

That should do it! Laughing

Done that. Top mount removed. I'm now trying to undo the rest of the threaded bit to get the spring out, but it's not budging. Using a 12mm spanner on the flat sides of the threaded part.
Do I need to relieve the tension (oo-er) in the spring or something?
Sorry to be a pain. I'd post a pic but the forum still won't let me. Confused

lock 2 nuts together on the top of the thread then undo the spring retainer (may need some wd40), unlock and remove the nuts, use a screwdriver to hold the threaded rod whilst removing spring retainer.

the 4 position spirng adjuster sleeve may need freeing off to reset to position 1 before you fit new spring to shock, mine were seized Rolling Eyes

Yes! It's off at last.

Here's the method. Is this pic blurred or is it my eyes?

Time to clean it up and paint now. Was quite easy once it started to budge. Thanks for all the info lads. Cheers.

Yes, this is the front shocker. I'm going to sort this one out first then do the rear ones.
I'll post up pics of the finished article.

I have finally got around to re-assembling my front shocker. Got my new uprated spring from SP4Y (thanks Laur).
Went to get the shocker of the shelf in my garage & noticed it was lying in a pool of what smells like hydraulic oil...balls!
I assume it has leaked out whilst dis-assembled. So 3 questions for the experts out there;

Does this mean it is well & truly fecked?

Is there a quick fix?

Do I have to buy a new shocker?

Thanks in advance guys.

Laur just received my springs in the mail, thanks for the speedy response mate and I’ll see ya at Great Yarmouth.

Re GY, if any one is having difficulty getting camp site space I have secured a considerable amount for the Armed Forces Scooter Club at £20 per tent for the weekend!! If there are any list members GTS250 riders needing help then contact me and I’ll sort ya!!
