I'm stripping my scoot this week for vinyl wrapping and wondered if there are any awkward bits I should know about. The engine can stay in but the forks have to come out.

Cheers

I found splitting the legshields and replacing the beading was a real bastard of a job, did this for someone who had grazzed the beading would not like to do it again......there are that many screws to replace!!

Where are you having the wrapping done? Is it as cheap as folks say it is?

Cheers Ian,

It's being done in Nott's, it's about £500. Cheap compared to a decent sprayjob.

Yep that's the place Ian, I will keep you posted and it'll be in TAG next month providing I get it done in time. The results I've seen make it a cheaper, faster and easier route than the traditional spraying but quality isn't quite up to the same standard as a paint job up close.

Do us a favour and take step by step pics to show us how much you have to strip it down and how easy it is to do it Wink I've been toying for ages with having this done (got a great theme) but never fancied stripping a GTS down fully like you have to for a spray job Rolling Eyes

I'm hoping to get away without stripping it fully but the forks will have to come out at least, not really looking forward to that part to be honest. It's a big old lump the shift around without forks so may have to refit them once the mudguard is off. I'll be taking plenty of photos so don't worry.

I saw a Lambretta vinyl wrapped on the IOW, it looks good till you get real close... then you can see the pixels so use a huge image if you can.

Here's what 2 1/2 hours, a 10mm spanner, 2 screwdrivers and a couple of allen keys does to a GTS. Not half as tricky as expected to be honest, I'd say it's easier than stripping a PX.

I cried when I saw that. Hope the end result is well worth the effort involved in stripping it.
