Went all over spain. rode from santander along the west border of portugal to almeria then up east coast to andorra then up thru France to cherbourg. about 2500 miles in 10 days. spain was excellent hot cheap and the locals were very friendly. Next time you at woody I will bring over maps and show you the route we took. |

I would so be up for this, but I guess it would need to be 2010's tour.... _________________

"if" it is the first week in august then i MAY be able to make this as that's a shutdown for my factory, if it's not then there's no way i can do it and it'll have to go on the 2010 list. _________________

I like the sound of this one but it would take up my summer hols from work ( if i still got a job then)
I might go via Calais and work my way down through france finishing up at the rally. There has to be some kind of campground in the area or within easy striking distance, anyone found one yet _________________

Hello all,
The August rally in Gijon is the "Euro YeYe" so it's not really a scooter rally in the strict sense of the term.
It's basically a 60's (mod oriented) festival with a (big) scooter ride out.
In terms of events it's extremely rich if you're mod/psyche/boogaloo/freakbeat inclined... plenty of English (mods?) in the "60's garage long hair & moustache style".
Plenty of live gigs, 60's fashion show, stalls & the like.
It takes place in several venues across the center of Gijon which is beautiful city with a beach in the center of town, full of bars and "sidrerias" (Cider houses) typical of the Asturian region.
Like most Spanish rallies most people stay in b&b's (camping is way too extreme for the locals ) but there is a campsite on the outskirts of town as far as I know.
Concerning our GTS' expect a lot of shocked reactions as this is an event for mainly "conservative/purists"...
I can get the full programme and post it up if you like.
regards,
Mick |
