I'll let you into a secret, Claire: Men's brains aren't clever when it comes to ladies  Drape a naked woman across pretty much anything and a man will like it more (me included).
We are simple animals 
I think the tradition of selling with nakedness has lasted longer for motorbikes (and cars and automatic weapons) because there are (still) more male buyers; simple as that.
If it was mostly men that bought breakfast cereals, you could bet Tony the Tiger would be a hot, semi-naked chick and men would, somewhere deep in their brain, think that eating Frosties meant hot Toni the Tiger would like to sleep with him.
