It has to be Fully Synthetic 5W/40 API SL ...

Piaggio recommend Agip or Selenia.... But halfords do there own brand which is fine Wink

Remember its NOT motorbike oil, so dont look in the bike section... you can use car oil as theres seperate gearbox oil and no wet clutch on a GTS.

I dont think Scoot sport is good enough for a GTS to be fair... its low grade stuff ideal for older engines i think... double check to make sure if its API SL Wink

And i remember correctly...

http://www.silkolene.com/index.php?calling=product&sub=scoot#scoot_p4

Near the bottom, its only API SG SH & SJ... GTS needs better than that, it mustnt be lower than SL.

Nothing in the silkolene bike range is good enough... Agip Racing is the best but its £12 a bottle retail... but the halfords stuff is good enough.

I would rather use a cheap oil to the right spec, than an expensive oil at the wrong spec Wink

Getting your head round oil's is easy, people confuse the viscosity with the grade and thats where the problem occurs... when buying oil for any modern machine you always need to check the API rating as its there to tell you how good the oil is... where as the bit most people remember is the 5W/40 bit which is purely its viscosity and has no relationship to quality of the oil...

OK got a reply to this question

Question: Hi I'm running a Vespa GTS 250 scooter also a Gilera Runner VXR 180, and was wondering what engine oil do you recomend for either of these bikes? is Scoot sport 4 of sufficient grade?

Hi Kevin,
Thank you for contacting our Technical Support Office.
SCOOT SPORT 4 5W-40 is fine for both machines.
Regards, Graham Dawson
TECHNICAL SUPPORT OFFICE
