if we did move i think a lot more of the 500 odd members would be more active as there would be no popups/adds or bleeping _________________ Darkside, Norwich Broadsmen SC

Iam up for moving, and would also make a donation. Not used site much since joining because of the adds/pop ups . Got a nasty computer virus from this site early December really f****d my computer up .All sorted now .
Since sussed out though,if i view the site logged in no pop ups or adds, viewed as guest adds and pop ups galore _________________ Scootering 4T style. |

I've actually thought long and hard about this (yes I've been bored...)
I love this forum by far the best there is IMHO, so why change it? if you use Mozilla Firefox (which you should anyway) just down load the ad bock plug in and sorted no more ads, we surely can still use the new URL for this forum as is, however if we pay a little any chance of a cool email address username@gtsownersclub.co.uk ? With my limited understanding of how these things work could it be up so that email address will forward to your normal POP account, of which I have upto 12 with NTL(virgin)??? _________________

i use mozilla firefox with the add blocker add-on same as smudger and no pop ups for me either.........
smudge makes sense, if only everyone used mozilla instead of explorer to view the site things could stay as they are...... _________________

HOWEVER, not everyone is going to change to mozilla etc etc so the new forum is the better idea
this forum can be locked and kept as an archive so nothing will be lost
important stuff can be moved over to the new forum
i think it's gonna be great _________________

For some reason, I've been getting the pop up windows today. When I go into a forum, there's a pop up telling me I've got a message, which presumably then transfers a virus into my PC.
All other pages have either 'real sex' or poker being offered. Being a woman and opposed to gambling, it's actually quite offensive...
They're all flash items, so I can't even block them.
Edit: And now they've mysteriously disappeared again. _________________ Vespista non si diventa, si nasce! |

I've been thinking about this ('cos i had some time on my hands)
As i see it, most people share their computer with the family. I know i have to check whose looking over my shoulder! So to change this that or the other just to visit one of the many web sites found in 'my favourites' is a bit too much to ask. Also, not everybody wants to download yet another 'security' programme. My system is full of them ('cos of the kids), and yet the ads etc still appear. That beeping is soooo annoying!!
Also, the pop ups etc make it impossible for me to risk logging on at work, & I couldn't change these settings if i wanted to! - This would also apply for many other members/users.
I've seen this format on many forum websites. Some have this problem, others don't. Perhaps, with such a large membership, it's time to move to a site where the professional format and the integrity of the web site can be maintained? It's too good to let it get corrupted!!
.... Perhaps i think too much _________________ It's simple, If I have to explain..... Then you won't understand ! |

The most irritating thing for me (once I'd figured out how to stop the beeping) is some times when I post a reply to an existing thread I type it up, click submit, and it then goes to 'Preview' rather than submitting my post
It's just done it to me know and I had to click submit 6 times before it would accept it
Anyone else had this problem
Winds me up no end, so feck it lets more, as long as it's not to a forum that uses the softwar scooter boy world does, not a fan of how that looks at all, content of forums ok just the softwares feckin sheeeite _________________
