Hi,
I've often come across the bank transfer lark when getting stuff off the bay from Germany, to the Germans a penny is a penny and they loathe the idea of Paypal commisions, in Germany bank transfers are free, so its common practice. Spain is another country where bank transfers are also fairly common.
I prefer Paypal because its fast and simple and like mentioned before you can claim if thinks go pear shaped.
I imagine the seller doesn't accept Paypal if he has already sent you his bank details.
Check his feedback rating (nothing less than 100% if transferring money) and see if he has sold items abroad,
Concerning what you need to give your bank, read this:

hope this helps,
p.s. Italian postal service is totally unreliable, best of luck!!! |

Tell me about it
Took over a month to get my LeoVince exhaust from Italy. And then the bracket to fit it to the swingarm was the wrong one _________________

I was looking for a mugello kit for my SX200 when they first came out, so I called that Tino Saachi bloke that makes them, and it was all: "Sure my friend domani, domani.... 6 months later it was more "domani, domani" and I still had no kit... had to order it from the UK in the end!!
But at least they make great cars/scooters/pizza/lattes.... and Italy is probably one of the most beautiful countries in Europe, so I guess you can't be good at everything!!
