I love my MP3, but I'm thinking about 'moving up'.

It can't happen until next January (did the restricted test on purpose so I didn't get too much power to early Wink I know - what a wuss!), but I reckon as soon as I can, I'll want to 'go large'.
My journeying involves half dual-carriageway and half city. The MP3 I find great in the city, though I wouldn't want to go much larger. I find it a little annoying sometimes on the dual carriageway, though, often needing to 'blip' through manoeuvers up around 65mph and having no 'blip' there!
Also, on rallies, I don't want to be doomed to leading the way for my faster GTS chums so they don't leave me behind! (Not that it wasn't fun leading you guys to Liege in the dark!)

The websites have surprisingly little detail...
Anyone out there made the same move or aware of the issues upgrading?

What is the 'real' top end?
How is the acceleration near the top end?
Is the Fuoco as manoeuverable?
How much quicker off the mark is it?
Is it as/more stable?
How does the storage compare?
How does the mpg compare?
Is there a mid (chest) height screen?
Does it use the same top-box as the MP3?
What extras does it have? (stuff like a 'lighter' socket)
What upgrades are needed? (stuff like horn, lights, rear hugger)
What do you think of the silver one?
What haven't I thought about? Wink
Anyone planning on downgrading in January next year and would like to swap for my MP3? Laughing

Obviously, I'll have a go on one, but sometimes you don't pick up on issues until you've owned something a while, innit, and I'd thought I'd pick you folks' brains!

Ta!

Dave do the sensible thing and get a GTS! You know it makes sense Cool

I was jealous of all the storage space you and Steve had on the MP3 though @ Leige.

Lol yeah. Flashing lights and the 'sonic attack' of Mav's exhaust hitting the tunnel's resonating frequency - it was like a freaky rollercoaster videogame nightmare!

Anyway... I can't have a GTS. Having a 'safe' 3-wheeler is the only way my missus wouldn't freak out (and she did buy it, also!).

Can't answer all (only limited experience, and my mate rides one):

What is the 'real' top end? (had a ton on the clock, but i would say early 90's)

How is the acceleration near the top end? (good)

Is the Fuoco as manoeuverable? (no)

How much quicker off the mark is it? (its a big beast, not much quicker than a GTS i found, although i do have a red GTS Wink )

Is it as/more stable? (yes and no, just as stable generally, but back end can be quite twitchy, which can be fun)

How does the storage compare? (less, and you havent got the rear boot)

How does the mpg compare? (dunno)

Is there a mid (chest) height screen? (yes, and it looks neat)

Does it use the same top-box as the MP3? (dunno)

What extras does it have? (stuff like a 'lighter' socket) (a lighter socket)

What upgrades are needed? (stuff like horn, lights, rear hugger) (rear hugger, or lack of is a bugger, my mate cleans his a lot more than i clean my GTS, but i'm a dirty bastard anyway)

What do you think of the silver one? (nice)

What haven't I thought about? Wink (I reckon more peeps come up and start asking questions about fukoff than mp3, which can get a bit annoying after a bit)

Gav's probabley the best person to answer the questions coz he's had both, or you could PM Russpeed (but he's a mad bugger Twisted Evil )

Thanks Wink

Sounds like I'd be happy with the performance and a test-ride or two would answer the manoeuverability question.
Sounds like I'd be ok with the storage, because I find the MP3 has more than enough and, with a top-box and a strap-on or two (ooer) the Fuoco would be fine.

I'm waiting for Gav to weigh in, yes Smile But I think I may be in for a year of drooling over Fuoco piccies...

Have you not thought of the MP3 400? same as yours with bigger engine.

If it's deffo a Fuoco you want, you could get one now and get it restricted if the right one comes up Wink

i changed from a gts to a fucuo
wondered if i did the right thing for a start
as its "not a scooter" or so i was told
it is a big lump to move about, especially in a pub carpark surrounded by 50 vespas!!!! and people do stop and stare
(but having a mp3 you should be used to that Laughing )
it will go as fast as you want it to
up to about a ton
back end can be a bit twitchy, had mine sideways
but overall i love it,and glad i swapped
do miss Bud sometimes though Crying or Very sad

Shocked jeez dave you should have had my red one......i gave it away in the end.......yes i lost a a fair bit on that ol bugger!! it went for £3500 in the end!!! well i liked my fuoco but i would not have another.....for me the seat height was to low and the leg room too little....erm pretty good on the power front a good bit of pull from down low and mid range and not a bad top speed 85-95mph,under the seat storage was on the small side but i fitted the givi 52litre top box and used to take enough gear for me and tonia for a week end away JUST! Laughing my pet hates was the small screen, the heavy feel and the lumpyness and the lack of rear hugger Confused in comparison to the gts its chalk and cheese the gts is so smooth and so much more movable it is the best scoot ive ridden in ages! the fuocu does have a good fun factor it depends what you want! have you thought nexus (my personal fav) or tmax or maybe the gts 300?

and it's a good £2k cheaper. I don't see the 3 wheelers are worth the extra dosh. The 400 is over £1000 more new than the Xevo which is basically an MP3 with 2 wheels.

Xevo 400, MP3 400 and GTS 300 can all be ridden on your licence now, so thats a bonus too.

GTS300 tho... Cool this is the GTS site so what did you expect... Laughing

T-Max tho, I do like them and they are the only scooter on the market now that I would consider changing my GTS for.

The fuoco is a good machine, but my initial thoughts seem to have been reflected by lots of others which is proved by the large amount of them getting sold, the massive depreciation and how cheap the used ones now are....

...They look good, very aggressive and butch... but i found them disapointing to ride, too heavy, the handling is awful, theres lots of front end grip but no rider feedback from it at all... the rear suffers from a lack of grip, the power delivery is too juddery for town use and the performance just doesnt match the looks...

In summary, my Fuoco experience was....

I saw them and went Wow.... i rode it and was like Ohh?

But saying that, we sell them, some people love them, theres no major problems, they will do there job day in day out... theres plenty about so youll get a good deal no doubt, personally (looks about to see if his boss is looking) dont buy new, its financial suicide.... youll loose a £1000 once the keys in your hand... find a low mileage one with a big wedge already lost Wink

Thanks for the advice all - I appreciate it.

I'm defo gonna try one, though it'll have to wait until next January (trying a restricted one won't really tell me all I need to know, I guess).

Some of the issues (feels big, lack of feedback) I think I'm already used to with the MP3 Smile But I won't know until I try it, I reckon.

Perhaps I also need to start working on the missus and convince her that two wheels isn't really more dangerous than three...

From a MP3 you wont notice much, although slow speed weight is a little bit more on the Fuoco... if you can try a restricted one then do so, you wont notice the restrictor as the fuoco is barely over your limit anyway, youll never notice a couple of bhp, people who have ridden our old demos never knew the difference... (showing my noobness here, innit?)
