Not done it yet (the wife must have stumpy legs ), but I plan on removing the checker plate only, cutting a block of wood about 3mm smaller all the way round, to match the profile. Get some cheap checker plate and wrap it around the block, use longer bolts and re-fit. _________________ Gilera Fuoco 500ie

get some ali sheet laser cut to match the profile complete with holes for the bolts and build the footrests as high as you need, 3 pieces? 10 pieces? infinatley adjustable....all you would need to do would be to buy longer bolts to mount also piece of laser cut chequer plate on top for looks......
is this do-able?
all we need if it is, is a friendly laser cutter man..... _________________

Sounds good I really like the idea of adjustable height. Might come in handy if the dragon grows her legs.......or i change the dragon Seriously though ive got to get this done sooner rather than later cos she wants to start comin to the Nationals this year and maybe a trip abroad. God help me, i will have to behave _________________

Started work on the footrests today. I took off the checker plate and used it as template on some 2 inch blocks. After cutting out the blocks i used a thin plank of wood, shaped and attached it to the blocks. So far so good. I'm thinking of tidying it up with some narrow beading, spraying it black and finishing it off with a non slip sand paper grip like on skateboards. It might sound rough and ready but more by accident than design it acctualy doesnt look out of place. If all goes well i will post some pics of the finished job _________________

Not thought of some chequered flooring and make some foot plates at the same time to match _________________

top idea mont
perhaps getting them laser cut and build them up using like layers until you get the height you need, maybe use ally for the layer bits and chequerplate just for the top bit, all you'd need then would be the right length bolts to suit, i'm liking your style mont. _________________

I'm just using stuff that is readily to hand at the moment. The grip tape is easier for me to use than the checker plate cos ive not got the tools to hand. I may get them finished off some time in the future. The blocks will be easily removable so i will only have them on when i need them for the missus to use. They also need to be easy to get off so that i can get to the spark plug inspection cover.
I will get Fleece to give an unbiased opinion of me handywork. _________________
