Sorry to hijack thread but just a quick question how often should belts be changed as I've not got my service book to find out, I've done 1600 miles so far on it.........how far before it needs changing?

Cheers

It would never make it..... the malossi ones never last as long from my dealings with them.

The Malossi belts won't last that long, we have found the Mitsuboshi Japanese Belts are much stronger and have been used in 3 scoots locally (1 is mine) and have been on for around 5-6k with no loss of power so far!
I will keep running mine until it can't go any longer??! Shocked

Genuine Piaggio belts are made by Mitsuboshi, hence the 3 stars in the triangle symbol on them Wink

There is no better compromise for life and performance than a genuine belt.... after all they aint no cheap make, Mitsuboshi are one of the best and used by Piaggio, Yamaha, Suzuki and many others as OE parts.

Malossi and the like can offer a improvement in strength but lifespan is reduced accordingly...

Went to put a Polini contra spring in this weekend at John's. Took off the Malossi belt to find it looking like this:

As you can see at the bottom of the belt the outside teeth are totally missing Evil or Very Mad
This was after only 2000 miles Evil or Very Mad

Here's a closer pic:

Luckily I had a spare belt to go on (another Malossi). After this one has worn out I am going back to Piaggio belts.
I think if this hadn't been spotted, my next rally would have had the belt snapping Crying or Very sad
