Well the on going problem of my GTS 250 cutting out, almost killed me last weekend, I went to Nottingham remembrance ride, no probs all the way there, {in the company of 2 PXs}. Sunday after the service on the Trent embankment set off home, got to Chesterfield and it cut out for the first time going round a roundabout, nearly had me under a car but missed, did 50/60miles ok, then cut again twice in a minute, carried on, then it went for me proper, cut out, wouldnt take off again, just where the m60 and m56 split, second lane doing 70, no where to go, 3 lanes to left, fast lane on my right, slowed to 35ish, cars screeching tyres all around and blaring horns, I shat blue, its already been in twice before, last fix was a new injector body, and ecu unit? plugs its had 3 up to now. I dont blame the mechanic, as it doesnt show any probs on the diagnostic, but probs there are, dangerous ones, be warned! Its going in Saturday for its final fix, and a written guarantee it wont happen again, or Im going to the consumer protection thingy about it. _________________ GTS250 its the future!!! hi paul, now the same thing was going wrong with my 250.
it would be ok for a while then just stop for no reason.tryed all sorts to fix it. then just by chance found it was the red cut out switch. got it changed under warranty. it may be an idea just to get it looked at.
the vibration when riding the scoot would turn it off.good luck _________________ ride it like you stole it |

Thanks for all the input, HT lead has always been very secure, I had to prize it out with a screwy before changing the plug {6quid} I never use the cut off switch its not worn and sloppy, ooer mrs, but I mentioned it to the owners of the shop I bought it from, we had a good chat about things for half an hour, cant fault their attitude, most helpfull, they promised the bike will be gone over with a fine tooth comb, as it was 3/4 weeks ago when they changed the injector/ ecu unit, point is why is nothing showing on the diagnostic? all this electrickery and whats it do, besides make things difficult, and fail? _________________ GTS250 its the future!!! heard a few have had problems with the red kill switch, got to be worth a change, they're not expensive and if it is faulty should be under warrenty _________________

my ht lead wasnt lose and didnt show up on diagnostic, wasnt till my local dealer ,Moonracker Norwich took off cap [off lead] and found lead was faulty so cut about an inch off which cured prob , be careful as lead is only just long enough , best to pass this info to your shop _________________ The Instigator ,

if it's the cut out switch and nobody uses them, would it not be safer to bypass it?? just a thought as i've heard it's a common problem!! _________________

I received a phonecall from the local main agent saying the Gts was done, but theres good news and bad news , good news was, they down loaded a new map for the "brain" from Piaggio, also changed the kill switch, as a belt and braces exercise ! They extensively road tested the bike, and all seems ok ! Then to further test it in the rain one of the owners took it home {30 miles} ok, then he dropped it off the stand ! Really apologetic etc, and its going into the sprayers Monday . Ok says me, but it will have to be better than good, invisible! This festered in my head for an hour, had to go see it, so 40 mile return trip later, it wasnt too bad, a few scratches and a small crease 6" long, and the stainless legshield bead crushed low down. I took the advise given on here and removed the sidestand ages ago, but still SHIT happens ! Your comments welcomed. _________________ GTS250 its the future!!! A club wi owt a name sc. Thanks for all your comments etc, no Smirnoff I didnt need a loaner, but they did offer a Fuocco, or MP3, they have been very accomodating, and I do believe they are genuinely sorry about the whole thing. Just waiting to see the repair now, they have seen my Series 2 Winter model paint job, so they know whats expected! Ps, I recovered one of the lads GP 200 on Sunday {blown head gasket} from Preston, in my Merc van, went to work Monday in it and the Feckin gearbox let go, so thats off the road too! Monday was my birthday too! I darnt go out on my other scoot the way my lucks been running! If I fell in a vat of fannys I would come out with the wifes! _________________ GTS250 its the future!!!
