New to forum as i currently have a 180 runner but am looking to buy gts 250 ..have cash but still looking and researching !! I notice there is alot of talk about the limiter.. does the so called black box remove the limiter in any way and is there not a simple electronic solution to stop the limiter or could someone tell me how the limiter works ?. Also when i buy one i want to keep the standard exhaust but would like a bit more performance could someone advise what are my best options ?... |

On a standard engine why would you want to remove the limiter?? Its only job in the world is to stop the engine over-revving and putting its insides on the outside.
If you find your getting to the limiter a lot and wish to gain a couple of mph then like has been mentioned alter the drive system and effectively alter the gearing ratios.... |

I think the J.Costa variator is the best option for improving acceleration. It certainly did the trick on my GT. _________________ Vespa GTS250 Vintage Red |

Yes, I have tried a Malossi variator, and I have tried it with Dr.Pulley sliders. The sliders gave very good results, but the Costa is better, it is very well made and I think it will outlast all the others.
Don't know anything about the Polini, except I have heard it is better than the Malossi.

std pipe
j costa variator
standard belt
no PM black box
short vespa flyscreen
big smile
but to be honest if you'r buying a new GTs you might as well wear the standard belt and rollers out first and get some use out of the variator that comes with the bike before changing anything, when you need a new belt and rollers just fit a J costa and a new std belt, job done _________________
