Yes theres the little intermediate gear... forgot the little guy! Laughing

I dont consider the belt system high maintenance... replacing a belt every 15,000km that takes 20mins and is easy to get to isnt exactly a problem.

And a GTS clutch replacement is quicker than a PX... and with the bonus of no messy oil to deal with.

Im glad technology has moved on... RIP PX... long live the GTS Very Happy

Well, I have been working on geared Vespas for 40 years and a GT for 4 years, and my experiences are different. You must have a very well equipped workshop with power drivers at you fingertips for all the screws and bolts.

I only have one power tool - an impact driver. And I have learned the hard way that it is only to be used for undoing, never for tightening. Just use it to loosen the clutch and variator nuts.

I guess we have beaten this topic to death. Cheers, Mike

No, the Costa is doing fine.

But my clutch is slipping too much on pull-off. I have Malossi clutch springs installed as well, and with the Costa it seems that the engine is revving too much and the clutch slipping too much before it takes. So I intend to revert to the original clutch springs.

My impression is that J.Costa has the variator just right for an otherwise standard engine, and no further tuning required to the transmission. But that still leaves Malossi camshaft and cylinder, performance exhaust and many other tuning options.

Mike
