Now I dont want this to turn into a PM or what debate but I gotta pick you up on this one. My PM has been on the scoot for two years now and appart from it beaking at Exmouth 2006 after bottoming out on the mother of all potholes it has been perfect (uprated rear springs since been fitted). Ive replaced the packing once and when it did break I sent it back to PM and it was repaired FOC and returned in a week. So how you can say that an, as yet un tested pipe WILL outlast a PM.......It may, but who's to know. Also as said above PM's guarentee has no clauses that I am aware of. _________________

Hi Phil,
I wasnt really slagging off the pm pipe, what i have experienced with a pm pipe on my px in the past and what some people have told me about pm products is that they can be a bit hit and miss, also they didnt have (dont know if they now have) any guarantees, and when I have tried to claim a broken pipe, they told me about the 'racing use' bit and wouldnt honour it! Maybe they have changed their ways or maybe you was lucky, whichever way, you got a result and am chuffed for you, also yes the leo pipe is untested on gts but they have been making these pipes for other maxi scoots and bikes and do have a good report, and just one other thing, for what its worth, they are road legal! so for those who like to do things proper and legal, has to be a plus point, me I couldnt careless weather my pipes are legal or not lol
I do appologise if you took offence from my post, none was meant _________________ Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.

Was that my boss or his wife
Thankfully there house abroad was finished last year, there house in the stix is up for sale and they are training a new manager for the shop as we speak... so looks like they will be off leaving the business to just fill there bank account on a monthly basis...
And the new chap Jamie is a decent lad... so things are looking up. |

Most people have known issues with PM pipes at some point in time, but hopefully they have sorted it by now.
The Leo silencer is much better built and finished compared to the PMs more budget effort, but the PMs front pipe and bracket looks more the part in my opinion.
If i wanted balls out loud then i would have a PM... but if i wanted a nice sounding system to last, it would be a Leo.
But as with everything in life its all personal preference! (not to mention how much it actually costs ya ) |

Just as a matter of interest how much are the Leo's????
And as a novice on auto mechanics how easy are they to fit?

Retail is about £210...
Fitting is dead easy and should be any problem as long as you know your arm from your elbow or so to speak
When fitting any exhaust remember to leave the battery disconnected while your doing it so that the ECU flash memory gets wiped and the machine re-tunes its fueling mapping to suit the new pipe.
Even if you dont do it, it will eventually adjust, just takes a little longer and can be a little rough while learning.
When i fitted one onto 007s GTS it was having the ECU update at the same time so killed 2 birds with the same stone, as during the update to the ECU it wipes the previous settings and flash memory as part of the reboot.
And so far theres not been any posts of running issues so i assume the ECU update has done the trick! |

No offence was taken at all, and i hope the Leo works out well too, ( gotta be better than the Scorp...lol) I can see why there are a lot of folk who can't be doing with the noise of the pm so I am glad there is a decent alternative, i also like the look in comarison to the Scorp. As for PM, yes I know other pipes have been a pain, but as yet I am the only person I know of that has managed to break a GTS one.

I honestly cant see how the PM's build quality can be bettered, Cheaper yes, by all means, but the quality is A1....in my oppinion of course _________________

Like said its all personal opinion
PMs craftwork on the front pipe and silencer connection are pure class and nearly as nice as the big boys like Akrapovic.... but the actual silencer doesnt quite cut it for me... looks all too much "max power" bolted on the back of a Nova. |

Hi,
A newbie here from NZ. I'm thinking of fitting a Leo after my first service. What part number or model are you all talking about, is there a link to a site and finally what are the benefits apart from sounding better than stock. Sorry for the questions but I'm a converted sportsbike rider. Nobody's perfect but I've eventually seen the light.

OK, now I've got the pipe on order do you do anything with the airfilter ?. Normally on a roadbike it would be pipe + K&N. What's the story with a GTS ?.
