mine was doing the same.......

i loosened off the bolt (17mm socket extension and a 17mm spanner)

knocked the bolt backwards and forwards thru the stand using a hammer and a piece of wood to protect the head / threads and sprayed some grease on the (now) exposed bit of bolt stem.

avoid doing up the bolt too tight as this can pinch the stand to the engine and stop the stand springing back too.

avoid using WD40 as it is so thin it washes out any oil or grease that is in there anyway Wink

best remedy is to remove the bolt completetly, clean, grease and put back in place but the stand spring can be a bugger and you need to hold the scooter upright and it won't have a stand........

i use my bike lift and a strap round a scaffold bar over the joists in my garage roof to hold it upright whilst i take the bolt out for a clean but obviously not everyone has that gear.

right the trick here is to
remove the stand clean the bolt and copperslip it and reasemble
a tip with the springs ,there are two ,one inside the other
is to use some strong string or i used one core from a length of three core
houshold wire to rehook the springs on
it is a two person job to pull the springs back on
just spraying it will only delay things
its a good time to give the stand a quick repaint whilst its off Very Happy

Theres no need to remove the bolt completely for greasing as the bolt doesnt pivot... only the stand does.

Clean off all the old grease/dirt/rubbish...
Slacken off the bolt so its loose...
Knock it out slightly so theres a gap both sides...
Spray with some decent spray grease... (not WD40 type stuff)
Keep working the stand and regrease...
Then retighten the bolt.. but like said not too tight.

Its probably the only time the sidestands useful! Laughing

yes but no but yes but no..............

disimilar metals..........

good idea to lube the whole bolt or it may seize in position which wouldn't be a good thing if you need to get the stand off for some reason Wink

preventative maintenance Cool
