good idea to lube the whole bolt or it may seize in position which wouldn't be a good thing if you need to get the stand off for some reason Wink

Considering as nothing can get in there to wash it out... pretty much.

Ive never took one apart that ive greased from new thats not came out like new when ive needed it too.

As the bolt is never exposed to anything due to being inside the engine casing, it nevers gets the chance for the grease to be washed out...and as the bolt never turns it doesnt even work its way out.

Trying to get the stand bolt sleeve out of the alloy casing is a whole different story and always ends up a nightmare when the engine needs splitting. Rolling Eyes

Why not have a split bush ill never know Evil or Very Mad

I always do Wink

And grease all electrical connectors, caliper pins, brake pads, exhaust mounts etc etc... thats what a PDI is for! Laughing

Do them at the start when its all nice and new and comes undone easy saves a lot of hassle in 12months time when corrosion sets in! Wink

When i started i made the mistake but i soon learnt the hard way... its made worse by the fact we are on the coast as sea air is a killer... if i didnt copper slip and grease everything from new, then its a 100% fact that by first service a bolt somewhere would be siezed solid and snap.. it was always the case bolts, air filter mount bolts or mudguard mounts.

So nowadays when i can take my time as not out to impress the boss to keep my job, i take my time and do it as i would if it was my own bike.

dealers get money to pdi a bike

a decent dealer uses the money for just that. it saves piaggio money and gives the dealer a good rep

some dont even bother

We get paid hardly anything for a PDI though... Thats the shame.

Especially when you get models like the Zip50 and 100cc, where you have to do valve clearances, upjet the carbs and change the oil before they will run... basically on them your selling at cost and making the money from the customer buying the extras and the servicing.
