i opted for that.

but it wasnt a mate. got our owld fella to hold it while i cursed at it and hammered/pulled the stand pin out.

shes not sticking now. i bet it'll only last about another 3 months. proper packed it out with grease as well.

Oh well its finally happened to mine also, following the salty ride back from Yarmouth. And thats despite rinsing all the salt off when I got back home.

Still, WD40 sorted it out enough for the Clacton Rideout, but the next day I could hardly get the scoot off the stand Sad A quick look on here pointed out the error of my ways with the WD40!

Looks to be all sorted now with the following method - and bear in mind that I have the technical skill of a hedgehog when it comes to scooters - so I was well chuffed when I completed this with no disasters!!

* Scoot on centre stand
* Loosen stand bolt right off (17mm)
* Apply grease
* Knock bolt through to other side (protect head/thread with wood)
* Apply grease to other side
* Knock bolt backwards and forwards a few times
* Take scoot of centre stand
* Wiggle stand up and down to distribute grease
* Put scoot back on centre stand
* Tighten bolts - not too tight!!
* Test stand for springy-back-uppy-ness and listen out for that reassuring thud!
* Have cup of coffee to celebrate (optional)

All that remains now is to see how long it lasts!!

I wonder what would happen if you brought a new car and the handbrake seized when it was used on a salty road??? You can bet your life Nick Ross would be on the case before you could say Watchdog. How great it is to be the poor relation in the motoring world Wink

Cheers

Simon

Replaced the bolt on mine with a 130mm long m10 stainless one when the stand was off at the powder coaters. Hopefully it will last a lot longer now.

If its greased from new its as good as youll get really.... yes the stainless bolt wont rust, but the same as with brake calipers, the alloy casing will still corrode and causing binding on the stand and shaft.
