Well, I tried the Piaggio TomTom mount and, not a big surprise, it doesn't work for the v2 of Rider. Doh.
The replacement cover is still usable and you get a nice electrics connector (it's got proper connectors) so I'll get my step-dad (has his own metalworking shop) to make me up a bracket that fits the v2 Rider and get the electrics wired in ready by the dealer (the scoot when in for its first service this morning).
Also, screen news is: I got one and I cut it down and fitted it and it works very nicely - no wind on the body or hands, but I can see over. Could have maybe stood it one or two inches higher, but I can still, at a pinch, duck my head out of the wind as desired. It ain't a perfect job, but it looks fine (if you squint) and does what I want!
I did try it full height before cutting - didn't like it. Had to look through it and got no air through my helmet vents.
I know you guys like piccies so I'll do some later (tonight maybe) in case anyone is interested. |

Well, just checked with the dealer before I bothered leaving early to pick it up. They managed to fit the TomTom. That's spoiled my fun!
I left the bits with them and asked to have the electrics plumbed in and for ideas on what to do with the rest and they've gone and fitted it!
Wonder what they did... Now I'm really really looking forward to seeing her again _________________ Do two and 1/4 rallies mean I'm not a scoot noob anymore? |

Big surprise - they did it wrong.
I TOLD them the mounting plate doesn't match the Rider v2 and to just put the electrics in if they couldn't work something out, so, of course, they fit the plate and don't bother with the electrics! Yay. *sigh*
Back again today, then.
Oh and sorry - busy night last night... piccies later... (not that there were lovely mounted TomTom piccies to be had anyway!) _________________ Do two and 1/4 rallies mean I'm not a scoot noob anymore? |

Okies piccies of the TomTom mount. It doesn't really show much, but the crux of getting the v1 mount to work for the v2 is to drill out the holes so the locations match the new TomTom (I drilled out to 8mm and then filed out further - didn't want to take away too much metal/strength).
Also get hold of some hard rubber washers as the release mechanism won't work unless it's at least 5mm from the bracket (which it isn't when screwing to the v1 bracket).
That's it. I don't know how the electrics wires up because the dealer did do it after all.
