Just got my variator holding tool back and i'm chuffed to nuts with it ... I got a friend of mine to make it for me and it took bloody ages as he had to fit it in between his normal jobs. I had to make a mould of the center pins layout from a special putty so he could make it in steel and then try it..adapt it..try it...adapt it and this was all hindered by the fact that we had to do it with the variator still on the bike as i never had the genuine tool to remove it !!! this would have made life so much easier .. It's been worth it and imo it's got a better finish and far superior to the genuine tool..Here's the finished tool.............

nice job mate
but as to being far superior...... i dissagree
be carefull that it doesnt jump out of the half pully
when you are using it
the genuine tool has a ring which locks the tool down onto the pully
pulling the pins tight into the pully
better than an impact driver though

Yeah ok far superior was a bit strong but as i didn't have the original to go by it was all a bit trial and error but to be fair it's solid and weighs 1.5kgs and i have tryed it and due to it's mass and weight it works a treat with only a small amount on pressure needed on it to keep it put !! but hey it's got looks on it's side Very Happy Very Happy
