Hello to one and all.
I ain't no youngster and I do like bikes.
Started riding when I was 14, unofficially of course.
I won't bore you with a list of all the bikes I've ridden and owned.
Until recently I had an X9 500sl. The most comfortable bike I've ever ridden. But its weight and my spine didn't get on any more. So I got my GTS 250, 2 years ago. I treated it to the OE Vespa Top Box, and most of the Vespa OE Chrome Kit. The Sports Screen is remarkable at keeping the wind blast off me. I had got used to the X9's screen and when I collected the GTS and set off for home, the wind blast was a bit of a shock. At its first service I had the sports Screen fitted.
I have an Optimate III charger, which has been used for all of my most recent bikes. By fitting their Accessory Permanent Fused Lead to the battery, I have easy access to keeping the battery fully charged and in good shape.
The lead runs from the battery, up through the column to emerge inside the glove box. It has the rubber capped end so that any rain or damp don't get at the wiring. The Optimate III connector, plugs into the two pin white connector of the permanent lead.
I'll be attaching Accumate's latest cigar 12v socket to the two pin white connector when I need to use an air compressor to keep the tyres safe. I have a small Michelin Compressor which easily fits in the underseat storage.
The 12v cigar socket will also accept the plug from my Tomtom One XL GPS. I can't fit the GPS onto the bike's dashboard area, but it will fit snugly in the glove box for when I want to check my route. It doesn't have Bluetooth capability to a mobile phone though.
I have always put Ultraseal in my tyres, but the GTS has Putoline's own version in its tyres.
I wear flip-up lids because I cannot find a helmet that allows me to put a full-face on over my glasses, or push my glasses on through the tight gap after I've put a full-face lid on.
I fully recommend getting a helmet with a built in dark visor. They make a hell of a difference, especially in the winter months when the sun is low in the sky.
Anyway, that's enough about me.
I'm glad I found this site.

Hello & Welcome
good tip on the optimate cigar lighter socket, wasn't aware they did one, should simplify things for folks

Maver, yes, that's the one. The previous one was too small to take the standard plugin devices. So things like GPS, and air compressors couldn't fit. This new socket is still new on the market and has only just gone on sale. My local bike shop have ordered several as a result of me asking for them to order mine, which still hasn't arrived from Motrax.
M&P have them for £6 and p&p is about another £4. If anyone has the permanent fused lead, this new socket is ideal to attach to it, for allowing electrical items to be powered from the bike's battery. |

Hi and welcome....just adding to the ciggi lighter.. I made mine as shown in my previous post , think it cost about £4 with parts from maplins and fits all size adapters...I get more pleasure in being able to make it myself.. |
