I'm getting the photo into my Preview page from my photobucket site. But I'll have to wait for the all clear before you can have a view of my GTS. |

I spent a lot of time fitting additional wiring to my X9 because of the poor quality of its own 12v socket.
The biggest problem was gaining access to the battery. It is hidden deep behind the rear light cluster.
The only sensible way to keep the battery fully charged and in fine fettle was to remove as much of the adjacent bodywork as possible and fit a permanent fused lead, which emerged in the underseat storage area. While I did this I also added an extra 12v lead that was used as a connector for any other items I would want to attach.
I had no faith in the bike's own 12v socket and the addition of two outlets made a lot of difference and made life easier.
I knew the battery would be well maintained from previous experience with the Optimate III charger. I no longer needed to remove a lot of bodywork to get at the battery to make any additional connections.
I did make sure that the fuses I fitted in line were all 1 or 3 or 5 amp at the most. The Michelin Air compressor has a low demand, but I didn't want to risk frying anything.
The X8, MP3 and GTS all have much easier access to their batteries.
Having spend hours getting the X9 12v sockets sorted, I jumped at the chance of letting Accumate/Optimate supply a cigar 12v car socket adapter.
It is fun to do the job yourself, but I thought I'd have a break from swearing. Whatever job I set out to do is supposed to take an hour or two at the most.......however......2 weeks later......... |

For some reason the link between AlbertTeddyBear and the Forum is playing silly sods. The problem has been sidestepped by the introduction of Albert, who now represents this poor fool who has recently joined the forum. Albert is now my username until such time as we can resolve the problem with AlbertTeddyBear. My thanks to steve for all his help in trying to sort out the problem. |
