What a gr8 piece of kit, Just got it today 5 mins to fit and away, No more flat phone for me when away on Rallies........
Just plug and play with this ready to go power plug. Just one screw and plug it in and you'll be ready to charge your cell phone, PDA, Ipod, Game Boy, power a GPS or whatever you need to power with 12V (up to 5amp). Includes plastic knee pad, rubber cap to cover it when not in use and all you need to hook up the POWER...This fits all GT-GTS-GTV-GT60. Does not fit on European ABS equipped models. Some GTS's do NOT have the O.E.M. plug behind the knee pad, but it now include an extra harness to hook up the POWER for these scooters. |

How easy would that be to hook up? £40 is a little steep, does look a quality product though. |

so let me get this right..........
the plug and play 12v cig socket is a replacement for the left hand knee pad.......
which means it's on the OUTSIDE of the scooter.....
ah, but that's ok it's got a waterproof cover........
so when it rains you can't plug anything in because it's outside the scooter and no longer has the waterproof cover on........
oh, and when you're charging your phone, where do you put said phone? in that little cubby hole infront og the gearstick? oh, no, sorry, it's a scooter there isn't one of those........
so your riding along, phone charger plugged in, phone somewhere, cable dangling......... _________________

I think you have got it spot on……..
I could reply and say have you never heard of cable ties, phone and Sat Nav holders, and pockets but I won’t…….
I go on then I will…….
I will give you the rain coming down and wetting the socket though whilst in use….
Oh and also the cable dangling a bit…..
But don’t forget the Air bed use as suggested by Phil…..

don't get me wrong, i don't think it's a bad thing, i just think folks need to look a little further than "it's a cig socket, that's that sorted then" because there are drawbacks..... yes there are phone/sat nav holders but it still leaves that cable dangling waiting to be caught and pulled possibly moving the handlebars possibly at an inoppourtune moment........ it's always going to be open to water ingress whilst in use...
i'm not being "anti" just "wary"
i think an "inboard" socket with wiring routed thru the frame and bars and utilising the slightly better but not perfect waterproofness of the toolbox is a better solution for placing a power socket...... and it will still blow up an airbed _________________
