|
|
Hope these are of some help to someone out there....
This is how I mounted and hard-wired my TomTom Rider v2 into the GTS250.
1) Bolted the Ram Mount to the mirror stems and then adjusted the set up so that the screen was visible from my riding position without obscuring the dash...
2) I feed the wire from the TomTom down through the gap between the headset and the horncasting - which handily opens out into the area behind the left hand knee pad.
Remember to leave some slack for when turning corners!
3) Using two of those blue snap-connectors (available from Maplin) I connected TomTom's black wire to the GTS's double black and TomTom's red wire to the GTS's white.
These are the same wires that power the ciggie lighter.
4) The wiring is now neatly hidden by the knee-pad and just one screw allows me access to the wire when I need it or to hide it all away when not required.
5) And hey presto, TomTom Rider v2 is ready for action...

A very neat job. I've only found out this week that the spare accessory socket on my 'sold' GTS has an easy access in the left kneepad area. I understand it is there for the option of fitting the OEM Alarm?
Therefore, does the Nexus have a similarly accessible live, hard-wire feed too ??? _________________ A Cripple is someone who thinks Disabled People can't ride motorbikes |

why not thread the wire into the headset thru the mirror grommet and have the cable "internal" instead of "external".........
would look neater and no chance of snagging.......
that's how i did mine so i know it's possible..... _________________

Maver
That sounds like a better idea, was it easy to get the cable fed through the grommet or did you have to cut it or drill a pilot hole to get it through?
Once you have it fed through the grommet, can you get access to pull the cable through from the knee pad or do you have to remove anything else?

knee pad off and horn cover off gives access thru there, brake res covers off, mirrors off, headset top off gives access thru headset and down to meet behind horncover, cut a small v in mirror grommet to allow enough room for cable to pass thru. .......

I did it this way because when I don't use the tomtom I can remove the mounting bracket from the ram mount.
This way I can tuck all the wires behind the knee panel - hidden from sight and dry as a bone!

hi to all,my first time on here, just registered in the gts owners club, cant keep of my scoot,go allover on it,done 1500 miles in 6 weeks.600 of which was to the isle of white rally, got a lammy aswell but dont bother with it now, prefer the gts for comfort and fun, fitted pm tuning pipe and fuel injection module unit,,a must.fitted me tomtom rider too.hard wired it to battery and up into the legshield toolbox so can just get the lead out as and when needed and mounted the bracket to inside the windshield mounting arms.try and post some pics when i figure out how to use me camera.have done the big bike scene and its not a patch on the lads and lasses involved in the scooter scene, every body is so friendly and helpful, hat of to you all. |

Think I may have a problem.
My GTS power plug arrived yesterday, but I don't think the connections are the same for the 300? There is no front light? assume I steal off the horn? Not taken horn cover off yet, but certainly none of the connections fit the white connector block behind the knee pad! Bolocks
Not a big deal cause I can easily get new connectors but sickner cause I paid good money for it.
I have e mailed motorsport scooters, might be best to sell it to a GTS 250 owner and make a new one myself from scratch _________________ GTS 300 is here and I LOVE IT!!!

It does say it wont fit the Super without an additional harness...

Best bet will be to just change the plug and wire it in elsewhere as youve already got it... why people buy one when its just a £3 trim and a £5 socket and youve made your own is beyond me though Then again some people and electrics dont mix i guess.... |

What Ram mount to use to fit a Tomtom Rider V2 GPS to?
Tomtom comes with Bluetooth headset (Cardo-scala) and a Ram mount that "Fits most motorcycles." Does it fit my Nexus?
It looks as though I may have to follow aa's system of attaching a Ram mount to the mirror stalk.
Any advice will be welcome.
The power will come from a 12v socket that is going to be housed in the small top left hand pocket. _________________ A Cripple is someone who thinks Disabled People can't ride motorbikes |

The Ram Mount that came with the TomTom Rider v2 had all the gubbings required to fix it to the mirror stems.
However, check out Ram Mounts web site and there are plenty of alternatives available - at a cost! |

what are those blue snap connectors listed as in maplin? trying to find em not having much luck.
not sure if the 300 has same connections. The anti-theft device pre-installation connector is a white 8 pin connector with only 6 pins connected. Can't make out with the photos if the 250 is the same _________________ GTS 300 is here and I LOVE IT!!!
