Thursday, on way to work, brake, shake, tarmac and bollox!!!!
Basically came off at relatively slow speed on a diesel patch, as did a scooter rider behind me (originally thought it was my fault but he told me it was a diesel spill).
anyway my bike ended on my leg, my arm is still hurting like fook (not broken though) and the mudguard/sidepanel needs spraying, the right brake lever needs replacing and the mirrors probably too...and thats just the stuff I saw on the day (put it in the shed and not looked since)
oh and I slid into the back of a car, so there goes my no claims and as the excess is £200 you can add that to the £300/£400/£500 the bike repairs will cost me if I do them.
So thanks to some lorry driving fuckwit who's too lazy to check the fuel level when filling up I may be up to £700 out of pocket and will have to travel for an hour and 3/4's to get to work until my arm is less fucked...not happy!!!
but on the bright side I'm ok and it could've been worse! _________________

damn right!
to be honest I thought I'd be more gutted at the bike damage then I was, but I was more concerned with the pain from my arm/ leg (still rode home though, in great pain )
ironic thing is in the days just before the accident I was looking at buying a proper motorbike/scooter riding jacket for the first time in 11 years of riding, but was too late... _________________

nightmare mate, i had basically the same thing happen on my old beater ped.
went round a roundabout in the wet, hit the diesel, front end shot to the left, then i went flat on my arse at about 25mph.
i didnt bother claiming on my insurace though, only cost 150 quid to fix because i just bought new panels for the thing.
the one thing i'm wondering is. why oh why dont they cover manhole covers with that grippy stuff, and why the hell isn't it a major criminal offence to spill diesel?
its alright giving them a fine for it, but theyll still do it again!
just look at people with 9 points on their liscences.....
you wanna get yourself some armour dude, it saved my bacon when i slid down the tarmac. i managed to ride home with crooked handlebars _________________ revolution deathsquad! |

I realised when I was halfway home the handlebars were pointing in the wrong direction to the wheel
am looking at armour as we speak...what do people here wear?
I'm not looking for a full on motorbike jacket to be honest, but more something that has protection but just looks like a normal jacket - armidillio and tuscano urbano are the only ones I've found, they offer elbow and shoulder protection but I was hoping for wrist protection too _________________

I always wear Knox back protector but like yourself intend getting a jacket with more protection.Seen a Frank Thomas one which looked alright, had plenty of armour and wasn't too pricey.Agree with Suit that especially in winter the armoured trousers are worthwhile (black ice is a bastard )Anyway sorry to hear about your spill and hope you are back on the road soon. |

cheers dude, so do I
one thing I've noticed looking at various jackets online, most will have elbow and shoulder protection but even a lot of 'proper' motorbike jackets dont have wrist protection, is this just how it is?
that was my first spill in 5 1/2 years but traditionally, my wrist always feels fucked after each of the accidents I've had, though my elbow area is bruised to fook at the mo, so maybe that did take most of the spill...
also, anyone got any good links for online shops for waterproof m/c jackets?
cheers again _________________
