|
|
The relay for my Stebel Nautilus air horn is a casualty of Mersea.
It's a 30a 12v SPNO relay, can’t seem to find one anywhere.
Tried Maplins and a more general google search but no joy.
Best I can find is a 40a 12v SPNO, I'm no electrician so unsure if that will work???
I've put the original back on for now, I have found one site in the US that does them but I'd sooner get from the UK, obviously. _________________

if it runs at 40a then it will kill your battery. if the highest voltage is 12v 40a then it will just take what the horn wants
its like a 15amp fuse socket. if you put in a 25amp it will work but after 15 amp it wont burn out so could damage the loom etc _________________

Nothing like it... the higher the amp of the relay the more power it can switch without killing itself... its safe to go up in amps but not down.
So the 40amp will be fine. |

All sorted now.
However if you have a Stebel Nautilus, watch out for the relay, the case came off mine and then grime and cr@p got in to the connectors, a bit of tape around the cover to ensure it stays in place would aviod this. _________________

The supplied relay isnt the best quality to be far, but its just a normal relay so you can get em from nearly anywhere... used on most bikes as headlight relays, or car shops as fog light relays etc etc.
@ Monty... youve got fuse and relay amps mixed up, a fuse rating needs to be lower than the wiring so its the weak link in the system, a relay doesnt work like that, its amp rating is to do with how much power it can switch nothing to do with safety like a fuse. |

If you do this, you will burn out your wiring before the fuse will have a chance to blow. |
