Hi There have only had my GTs a week so sorry if this a stupid question but whilst out on it today i noticed that every now and again the temp gauge would flash.
First it would be the first and last bar that would flash followed by all the bars and then it would show normal running temperature. is this normal. |

Doesn't sound normal to me. This same thing happened, but on the fuel gauge, when I switched my ignition on whilst my fuel level sender was disconnected.
It may be that there's a loose connection between the clocks and your thermostat/temp sender.
I'm sure someone else on here will be able to give you a definite answer _________________

You can try disconnecting the earth wire from the battery. Leave it disconnected for 1 minute, then re-connect. This will re-boot the ECU in case it's being a bit silly, but you will have to re-set your clock. |

Klunky, did you try this? I just picked up my Gts on Saturday and something similar was happening to me after only 11 miles!
Even when I let it sit over night, when I started it the next morning, it was as if it should have been boiling over...the rad fan kicked in right away, the temp gauge (solid bar on the cold side, hollow bar on the hot side) just flashes at me like it is over heating.
I disconnected the battery, but I'm not sure I left it disconnected for a minute before reconnecting. I did notice it reset my time. Maybe that was enough. I started it up and it immediately started acting funny straight away so I shut it off.
I'm hoping it is a bad temp sensor or sending unit and I hope it can be fixed quickly. I'm enjoying driving the wife's LX 150, but I was really hoping to be putting some miles on my GTS.
I'll be sure to post what the shop comes up with when I find out.
Good luck!

Hi there,
After I had spoken to Readspeed who i bought the scooter off about the problem ( I also had tried disconnecting battery with no luck) they spoke to piaggio, who seemed to think that it was the clocks/dashboard that was the problem and put a complete new set in the scoot.
So far have not had a problem since.
As scoot was new was done under warranty and did not cost a penny.
Hope this helps |

Hey Klunky,
Mine new GTS had 43 miles and the fan went on, flashy flashy temp Ga. should have been overheated but it didnt seem hot.
the shop picked it up and they said it was the computer gone bad. replaced it no charge. also front end wobble was blamed on a bad front tire, replaced that free too.
I get it back tomorrow, cant wait cause i just got my top case, fly screen and some checker stripes to add on. more later |

I just heard back from the shop. Loose wire. All fixed. Precisely which wire, not sure, but according to them it's all buttoned up. |

But result means we can enjoy riding instead of worrying |

Sounds like a loose wire somewhere, or the dash is faulty/has water ingress...
If the fan comes on immediately its not the dash at fault as it has no effect on the fan, the fan temperature switch and gauge switch are seperate, the dash switch is fed direct, the fan switch is controlled by the ECU... |
