I promised pictures, so here they are. I am so chuffed I managed it myself and that it works so well - went out in the cold and drizzle tonight - my jeans barely got wet and I was not cold at all with no extra layers and with summer gloves Very Happy

Was pretty easy to do in the end - I had a practice cut and went straight across at a few inches down then used the original curved top to drawn a curved line for the new height top. Discovered during the practice cut: Use the jigsaw in short bursts or the cut edge will get so hot it will melt and re-seal behind the blade!

Just took her out for a spin in the rain and cold - fooking marvellous! A neighbour who owns an 1100 something-or-other tells me if you don't get cold and wet it's not real biking! Hehe - He didn't seem to entirely convince himself - I think we know he's jealous!

I'm still v slow and nervous on corners though Wink I guess I'm not reckless enough to have real fun yet?!

What about that mirror film stuff, like one way see through? I put some on the back window of my last van, looks like chrome from outside? Cool

It's too bendy for anything like a sheet, but a spray could work... hmm... I don't like to look through it anyway Wink

This the stuff?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TAIL-LIGHT-TINTING-SPRAY-BLACK-LENS-BRAKE-TINT-PAINT_W0QQitemZ350036838758QQihZ022QQcategoryZ9895QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It needs to be one that works on plastic, yes? Or should it be a 'glass' one to work on methacrylate?

Anyone ever done this? I do tuck down and look through it at high speed, so it would need to be a reasonably 'good job' (ie. I can't just make a mess of the tint and decide to go totally opaque).

Hmm I guess another question is, how durable is this stuff? On the inside of a light cluster or even a car window it's likely to get very little 'action' but scooter screens will need a wipe down pretty often. Would it need a 'cover' layer of some kind of laquer maybe?

That spray is ok on the inside of light clusters where it cant be got at, but it can scratch easy, plus its got to be applied EVENLY, easier said than done I would think, pass lines where you overlap spray would go darker, so Tiger tails appear, ie, dark light dark light, got the idea? could look a right mess if your not experienced at it. Hope Ive not put you off? Clear looks good to me, Factory tinted may look better. The mirror film I was on about is applied to the inside of the screen, with water, wish I was any good at posting pictures, but Im not, guess you will have to research it. Rolling Eyes
