Just got my pipe delivered yesterday, to realise that you need to use the down pipe from the original exhaust (the bit with the Lamda sensor).

Thing is, when I got the scoot, I replaced the old-style exhaust for the Scorpion, and when the exhaust was recalled due to the gasket issue, the Dealer (who was about 70 miles away) insisted that I refit the original, drive it to him, where he could replace the down pipe and gasket. I never took it to him, so still have the old-style down pipe without the welded shield-washer.

Do I now need to buy one of these new-style down pipes? I did notice the LeoV pipe was a good tight fit, and since there is no gasket to blow, I was hoping to be able to use this. I also notice that the down pipe fits well inside the Leov pipe by a good 15mm, so no gas will escape. If I need to buy one, how much are they?

No you wont need it with the leo fitted... the washer was a back up incase the gasket failed, as when it does it leaves a HUGE gap for the gas to leak from, but with the interference fit on the Leo its not needed.

If worst comes to it, PM ya chassis number and ill get ya a new style one Wink

No problem, just make sure when you fit it, that you dont shove the pipe on too far which makes the exhaust rub on the waterpump case... lots of people do and then complain it rubs Rolling Eyes Move it back 5mm and all is good. Wink

The GTS one uses the original downpipe stub with the lambda sensor and comes with the can and a linkpipe...

...but its not like that on all models, the MP3 250 and many others are full systems start to finish.

Suit Scoot fitted my variator and LV `zorst today. Also put a new rear M Pilot sport on at the same time. Too early to say re: any improvements due to the fact it`s pissing down yet again! (Sounds nice tho`)

Thanks for all your help mate. S S had a 100 mile round trip in wet conditions just to help me. That`s what you call a top geezer, canny lad or whatever eh? Very Happy

I fitted the LV at the weekend. Once it was on, it took about 20 minutes running before it stopped backfiring, prob because I hadn't disconnected the battery.

The top retaining nut on the cylinder is a bugger to get at, I'm still not convinced I've got it as tight as it should be, and there could be gas escaping.

Has anyone else had to use a flexible ratched bar to tighten properly.

Exhaust looks and sounds great though.

So how do you guys rate this pipe then? any improvement on a standard exhaust? what about noise levels and fuel consumption ?

Cheers
