I have just finished tidying up a GT125 that I have had for ages, just getting ready to fire her up but she has not ran for a couple of month.....So anyways I have decided to take the battery out to give it a charge and it's all gone bloated like it's had a night out with me. Thing is it's so fat it will not fit through the hole in the frame!! Do I have to just smack it to bits with a hammer then?
I will try charging it in situ but the fat fucker wil probs not work and I will have to replace it!!
Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Would certainly help if you could get out as much of the acid as possible before doing anything drastic. Then dilute what is left with water.

Ideally an alkali wouild neutralise the acid, but I wouldn't have a clue how much of what.

I think maybe the battery is not the correct one as it is a sealed battery. Maybe this is why it has bulged so much. I have a few ideas though and the good thing is they all involve power tools!! Thanks for the advice I will let you know how I get on.

It's possibly been overcharged. If/when you fit a new battery, check the charging rate with a multi meter. It should not show more than 14.3 volts, ( 14.5 at a pinch ), otherwise your voltage regulator is at fault, and your new battery will also be damaged if you continue to run it. As previously stated, try to get as much acid out of the old battery as you can. If you have to butcher it, wash it out with copious amounts of water. There is a saying in the trade, that too much is not enough. Good luck with it.
