Yeah remove the horn panel then the front will come forward, unplug the wiring and place the cowling somewhere safe... if ya fingers are small and nimble you can now just get to the indicator switch enough to pop it from the panel and then replace it... if not youll see there is a few more screws on the inside to undo, along with speedo cable and dash plugs, then you can remove the cowling and do it easier, on the dining room table while drinking a cup of coffee |

Thanks cheeky.
Is it official, can i tell the wife it has to be done on the dining room table and she has to make me a cup of coffee to boot to calm my nerves before the big operation? (not sure my sausage fingers will fit!)
Let you know how i get on... |

The switches pull out of the panel from the side you see when sitting on the bike, there is a little tag on both sides that needs to be pressed in and then the switch will simply pull forward out of the hole and hang on the wiring... dead easy once youve done a few.
If you can see the clips you can use a screwdriver to push the tags in, doesnt have to be ya finger. |

well, done it but it was a pig of a job. took off the horn cover and then with a bit of persuasion the front of the headset came away. disconnected the light and put it aside. could i get to the indicator switch??? could i billy oh! it was behind the handlebar! so the rear of the headsert had to come out, more screws and got that off while leaving the speedo in place. (This couldve come off in one go with one screw but i couldnt undio the speedo cable nut...too tight!)
The indi switch screws in from behind (i wish i had a clippy one cheeky - perhaps they changed them later cos these ones are sucuh a pain?!)
so time for a cup of tea and the scoot looking like the headset has exploded!
started putting it back together and one tip.....put a cloth over the gap where the horncover came off cos these scooters have a giant magnet in there somewhere which sucked a total of 4 screws from my grip and dissapeared into the bodywork somewhere!!!!) i know i shouldnt be so clumsy but with my hands and such a fiddly job??!!
so now my scoot headset is fixed together with a mixture of woodscrews and cut down bolts!
And ot cap it all off the indicator switch works at idling buit when riding it still doesnt work, so all that for nothing! Off to Moonrakers then..... |
