I went to the Thundersprint do at Northwich, Cheshire? Lancashire Alliance rideout. Everyone met in a big layby about 5miles south of Warrington, thats where it was pointed out that the fuel overflow was giving off fumes, I thought nowt more about it as the tank wasnt full, but it was quite hot today, got to Thundersprint, walked round for an hour, then set off home, well nearly, as I started the GTS up petrol gushed onto the exhaust, lots of it too, turns out the pipe to the "carb" from the top of the tank, had popped out of the pump completely, my mate sorted it as I couldnt get my sausage fingers in the tight space above the petrol tank, point being, if that happened whilst the exhaust was hot, it could have ended up like a Flaming Meteor going down the road, main agents bieng told Monday morning, how would you stand if it was totalled by fire, because of a faulty pipe connection? Hmm? your comments invited. _________________ GTS250 its the future!!! A club wi owt a name sc. Bamberbridge. |

I think if it burnt out totally, you would probably never know what caused it, and therefore an insurance claim would be the order of the day. Seem to remember some years back, several Volkwagen LT vans went on fire. too many to be a co-incidence. Turned out to be a fuel line problem, and therefore a recall notice was issued. Hope yours was an isolated case. Was going to go to Thudersprint, but Mrs Jetex had other ideas ie: wallpaper and paintbrush ! |

Yep it does kinda cause concern doesnt it? I put it down to freaky hot weather, expanding the petrol in the tank, and the engine running hot, {the fan was on whilst tootaling through traffic etc} then parking with the sun on the right hand side, ie; tank side, still shouldnt have happened though, informed the local main agents that I bought it from this morning, there gonna look into it for me, against warranty work, so I will let you all know when I hear anything, if that ever happens. _________________ GTS250 its the future!!!
