|
|
Bought from new 06 plate GTS. Have now done 7K miles
I've had a few daft problems, most appear on this forum after also been experienced by fellow GTS owners. I also have to say that my dealer has been spot on sorting any problem out.
But today......
Whether turning the indicator rocker switch left or right, my headset headlamp and oil warning lights start flashing - not my arrow lights as expected. Pulled over, actual headlight is not flashing, but then nor are my indicators.
I have literally 'looked' at both the switch and the relay, but what am I meant to see?
Two weeks out of warranty, and three weeks before Beatsugar
Any ideas?.... |

Ordinarily I would agree, but the scoot is sheltered at work and garaged at night. I am also a tad sceptical because of previous faults being caused by the basic build quality being poor, and €1 parts being used instead of spending a little more to make up the overall £3K+ price tag.
There. Sorry, rant over. Back to the problem...... or at least hand signals whilst I sort this.
Any electrical pointers |

After putting it back together again last night and closing the garage door, I tried it again this morning. In the dimpsy light of the garage i can see that it is all the headset warning lights and even the headset 'back-lighting' that is flashing/pulsing. But not the indicator arrows (or indicators)
I have checked all the fuses in the glove box (because I'm not sure which one is linked to the indicators) but they all seem OK.

Sounds like the back of the speedo head is corroded, and the feed from the indicator switch is bleeding away from the indicator circuit though corrosion on the PCB to other items around it...
... remove the headset cover and unplug the speedo unit and see if that fixes it. |

Okay, I've removed the headset cover and I unplugged the black electrical junction box with all the wires. Turned the key (could hear the electrical motor noise) no dash display (as expected) tried the indicators but got nothing. Is that what you meant? |

I'm not really getting anywhere with this, so I've put it all back together.
Only now i have now dash readout at all
Scoot sounds awful and doesn't want to idle.
Wouldn't know if the engine management light was on or flashing 'cos I've got no display
One for the dealer............. & the bank manager |

If your local to me (suffolk) then i can take a look.. think ive got a old GTS dash somewhere if it needs cannablising for parts |

Hi Cheeky
Is there any good news about having a dead dash two weeks outside of warranty
Thanks everso for the offer, but I live in Exeter (Devon), so unfortunately it's a little too far. But it is appreciated.
I have a dealer 2 mins away but they are massive m/cycle dealers and only do scooters for pin money. (which is why i didn't buy from there) My chosen dealer is suffering from staff shortages and volume of work & so can't fit me in until next week.
Thankfully the good guys at Yeovil have managed to fit me in on Friday.
However, nobody seems confident about a claim this side of the warranty |

I would check all your earthing points. Is your indicator problem when you switch on either side, or just one side in particular ? The engine will run rough if the ECU cannot earth properly. Check your battery to chassis earth, and engine to chassis earth. |

I hope I'm not too hasty in posting this, but i think it's all sorted now
The top guys at South West Scooters plugged her in and translated the diagnostics....... and through a slow process of elimination, found a broken wire in the loom. Did a test by-passing the broken bit of the wire and everything sprang back to life
So they fixed it proper, and she seems okay again.
I know that scoot is incredibly 'green', but a bio-degrading/decomposing wiring loom..... C'mon |
