|
|
I noticed my 06 plated GTS exhaust developing holes around the stubby little end. On loser inspection this is almost completely corroded through., making me think that the rest of the exhaust is probably on its way.
After making several calls to dealers I understand the cost of a new standard exhaust to be in upwards of £300 ! ...+ vat !!!!!!
SO... my question is: stick with the standard?, or which after market exhaust is really proven? ... I mean really proven. |

how many miles has the bike done?
a freind of mine has put 20,000 on his bike with a PM pipe on before he needed any repair work to it and gives you a nice increase in power too _________________ POGUE MAHONE SC

My bike has only done 8000 miles
I was shocked at the cost of a replacement standard pipe
I did read somewhere that you need to upgrade the rear springs and re-set the 'brains' of the bike by disconnecting the battery when fitting a PM.
With the standard pipe being so expensive, i am looking at the alternatives, so any advice or experience would help.... |

My standard exhaust was in a shocking state after three years of abuse.
Changed it for a Scorpion pipe with carbon end can - just hope the clearance between can and frame is ok when riding two up! |

Damn, you're good Cheeky Thomas for PM is what I say...
If only my silencer box is corroding (and only the stubby end bit at that!) do i still need a new 'down pipe'
(and how do i go about completing this transaction???) |

Cool. Thanks for help with this. I'm definitely up for a standard GTS exhaust from you.
Enjoy your break. I look forward to hearing from you when you get back to it all. |

Keep an eye on fleabay got a nearly new complete standard system for £25 BUY IT NOW, a cheap spare for a rainy day!!!!
You can order the GTS exhaust recall kit from Fowlers Of Bristol the imports for £24, this includes the important gasket(£9+ to buy separate), down pipe and a new clamp. (250 in stock when i ordered mine last month) |

Yep, all valid points and I do keep an eye on e-bay. Trouble is sellers will soon cotton on to the cost of a new one, and so bargains like yours will become very rare. Also... my rainy day is here & so I will need it very soon
I'm only replacing the silencer bit, so I guess a new clamp is all I'll need. I'm not touching what ain't broke
Thanks for the info on the down-pipe and gasket kit. |
