Picked up my 300 on friday. two problems
1.like tidsys, cracked instument display plastic- warranty no problem BUT
had to ride home in rain, the following day as it was covered in grime decided to wash it and noticed that the engine casing on the variator side was covered in sticky glue. Now i take it that this is residue of stickers from factory, could i get it off -no.Never mind me thinks ill clean it off with a little whitespirit and guess what the crap paint has whiped off.How cross was i (understatement).Surely this should have been removed prior to collection? Do you think Piaggio will replace the cover under warranty or can you recommend a decent paint shop that can do the work or powder coating specialist.oh and cant ride the bike either as no tax on collection should be back tommorrow i was told .Checked with dvla and they have not recieved the paperwork so its unregistered as well- dealer tells me he sent it last saturday.IM GOING TO f-----G hit someone soon.Your thoughts please. _________________ Mr Vespa-cool as ice. |

I suppose you could have had points on your license too, if the plod had caught you, there are posts on here about "Aerocoat" that do an exelent job of powder coating, I dont suppose your dealer will be interested in replacing your cover as you "cleaned" it with white spirit, but yes your bike should have been cleaned of sticker residue by them, bit late now though innit? mores the pity _________________ GTS250 its the future!!! You should have used WD40 to clean the glue off. Personally id send it back and cancel your payment with the credit card company. Or cancel the HP ect. And tell them i will have it when everything is sorted out to your satisfaction. What dealer was it? People like this should be named and shamed in my opinion. |

Replacing the cover is the least the dealer should do, after fooking you about. Its just good fortune that you weren't stopped by the old bill on the way home. I agree, name and shame dealer! |

Sorry for delay in replying, in on holiday in turkey so Internet access isn't easy, but back to the topic....
The glue residue is from the clear plastic the factory uses to protect the cover in transit, its fitted to all new bikes, chances are they removed the plastic but couldn't see the residue so didn't think about cleaning it as it looked clean, its only been noticed once all the dust and dirt has stuck to it in use. Warranty wouldn't replace the cover if they knew you cleaned it with a strong solvent, its like asking for new panels because you cleaned em with a brillopad, but it all depends what you tell the dealer, and what the dealer tells piaggio
If it was me you brought it too, I'm sure it just washed off riding in the rain! Haha.
I'm sure your dealer will fix the problems, if not there's many others who will. |

Maybe i could bring it to you then.still cant ride it.have had time to have a good look round and noticed two other faults namely crack in the piping around the seat cover and poor paint finish around the unit thats holds the cracked plastic lens. Not happy at all could i reject this bike? _________________ Mr Vespa-cool as ice. |

It would be hard to reject something you have had even for a short while, and especially without giving them a chance to put it right.
Yes piaggio are to blame for the paintwork not being too hot around the speedo head, but why did it get PDId and accepted as ok by the dealer? Its there job and part of the PDI to check if its ok, where possible its great to get bits like that changed before you pick it up, but in reality no matter how hard you try sometimes you have to let the customer have it like it is, but with a note telling them its going to be replaced at 1st service. |

Isn't this just the join in the one piece length of piping around the seat ? If it is, I'm sure it could be neater, but that's what you get with mass production. |
