anyone else turned the key and waited a few seconds for the panel to light up ?
sometimes i have to shake the key two or three times to get lights.
and of course , no light , no start . its been going on now for a month or so , but always ends up starting , i rely on my scooter for work ( 5am ) and i`m just waiting on it dying altogether .
is it a fuse? or something more ££££££`s
help. _________________ Dig the new breed . |

Hi my ignition switch can do this, if i try and turn it to far when switching it on the whole thing goes dead. On mine if you nudge the ignition switch whilst its running it will cut the engine dead. It could be dodgy if it happens whilst riding at speed or in traffic. In my case i think its the ignition switch that is worn or damaged. Be interesting to see if anyone else has experienced this issue, cheeky will know |

Ignition switch is dying... on the very back of the ignition barrel is a lovely black and green box with a spring clip holding it on... remove the spring clip and it pulls off.
This is the part that actually switches the ignition on and off and has the CLICK for each position... replace it and the problem will be gone.
Martins sounds like the plastic stop is wearing away so it can turn more than it should making the contacts go past each other... so it doesnt work unless turned back a fraction.
Fishfaces sounds like the internal brass contacts are corroded, and it takes a few wiggles of the key to rub the contacts together so that theres enough contact for electricity to flow. |

Thanks for the advice m8, sounds similar to a p range vespa switch will take a luck at it. There is'nt any chance of me upsetting the immobiliser unit by messing with the switch? |

You can, its nothing hard, but its easier to change it as being plastic they dont always like coming apart without falling apart... and they are dirt cheap to replace. |

If anyone out there owns a VW Golf or Polo, they are affected by the same ignition switch problem. |
