Andy has a question for Cheeky Thomas that I've been asked to pass on.....
do the twin snail horns need a relay, and/or an upgrade of fuse when they are fitted?.

The original horn is a low ampage cheapy standard item, where as the snail horns use a mini air compressor to make the noise, and this uses a lot of power, if you tried to pull this power through the standard wiring and horn button it would soon cause melt down and slow death to the poor thing.

So you wire in a relay which just uses the original wiring as a on-off switch to operate the relay, and the relay takes the power from the battery and gives it to the horn directly... its the same set up as the lights use etc.

Thanks to both of you.
I bought an inline fuse holder and 2amp fuses from Maplins when I bought the 12v socket. I have 1amp fuses already. The socket will mostly be for a GPS.
I've printed out your replies so that Andy can follow the reasoning.
