cost was £65.22 inc VAT

Hi,
I took mine in today for the 1000 km service cost me 88 euros (75 quid against the weak pound, but its more like 60 quid in real purchasing power).

It was a main dealers and I made sure they knew what I expected to be done (thanks to the workshop manual CT posted up here Very Happy

cheers Cheeky).

I asked them about the reprogramming update (I took a print of the screen shot with me) and it was way past them. In fact I wasn't particularly confident ...when I arrived the dreadlocked apprentice was just finishing puffing on his post-lunch joint Laughing

I mean I've got the space and tools, and feel able to do the work myself, but is it worth risking the warranty?? any thoughts?? not that I mind paying but I'd rather someone competent going near my bike (not easy to find)

Whats the score with the 1st service guys ? - is it a" freebie " or up to the dealers disgression , why the variation in costs ?
My 1st service at 1000km in August for my new gts 250 was only a modest £15 for oil. At Andrew Hart Scooters & M/cycles in Dundee,the main dealer where i bought my scoot .
they are a good bunch to deal with and get a mention in Dec. Scootering mag

sadly no freebies from Piaggio. I'm just about to get my first service and i've been quoted about 60-70 quid.
Shame these beasties are not as easy to work on as a PX or Lammy, I never took any of my new ones for services, just did them all myself.
Still, a couple of years from now I'll have no warrantee left, so who knows.
Still haven't recieved my first year recovery either. Apparently they get sent out by Lexham Insurance.

The first service is just an oil change with filters and a check over for tightness. As for being easy or hard to work on if you consider the fact that there are no gear cables to service and no clutch, the brakes are self adjusting so no difficulties there now add in no points and no carburetor and the argument is sounding weak? The valves will require adjustment at high mileage which is not that difficult and compared to the re boring/new piston re boring/new piston which is inevitable on a well thrashed 2 stroke not of great concern Laughing

The big difference I suppose is the belt and rollers but once again with the right tools not a hard job. The point is keep it serviced and you will probably never have to work on the scoot anyhow Laughing

Very true, however I am one of those who likes to 'tinker'. It's in the genes I think, the old man always used to do it with his cars.
Not having cables is a real bonus, but i think my front brake was set-up badly at the factory as it's pants. So I will be insisting on that being sorted under warrantee.

Hi,
just done my 1000Km service on saturday morning.
it cost me 80€, including:
0,25 litres of 10W40 transmission oil (they put this more fluid one instead of 80W90 because they think it's better especially for winter, what about that Cheeky or other?)
1,40 litres of Motul 5W40
Oil filter
Quick road test (frozen this morning)
1 hour of work.
And still no ECU modification in France, maybe because we've got a Landa sensor and catalysed exhaust, not in U.K. ? What about other countries, especially U.S.A?

All the GTS have lambda sensors and catalyst exhausts.... your dealer probably doesnt know how to update it Wink

Other than that nothing to far wrong...
