Hi all , on the verge of ending 12 years motercycling and buying a gts 250. and getting cold feet, i like the idea of an automatic as i have a dicky arm from a motercycle accident 37 year ago. Also have this idea in my head that the scooter scene is more sociable than the bike scene and the idea of rallys and continental trips appeals and sitting on the gts conveys a sense of fun, cannot test ride as the scoot needs adapting to suite me, any positive advice or info will be appreciated. cheers everyone, jimmeyg |

hi & welcome,
been and done the m/c thing but always came back to scoots , like you say it's a social thing and we are a friendly bunch
the feedback on here is mostly positive for the gts250/super300 as its got speed, looks and is a comfy ride (but i'm biased as i have one )
i'm sure there are people on here with both scoots and bikes and will let you know what they think _________________ Darkside, Norwich Broadsmen SC

Same here, had a scooter since i was 16 now 39, never been without one. Even when ive had my bikes ranging from RD350's to VTR1000's ive always sold the bikes and kept the scoots. _________________

Hi Jimmeyg,
same thing for me. Into scootering since i'm 17 and i'm 35, never been without a scoot more than a few months, had also a few motorbikes from single 400 to twin 1200. Bikes are boring me very quick not scoots...and you will not meet the same peoples
Big GTs or Gilera Nexus could be a good solution for you if you want to commute in style and confort, and have some fun too .
Welcome. _________________ http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/el%2Bhombre%2Bnuclear/video/x75va7_el-hombre-nuclear-intro_shortfilms |

there's nothing like a group of GTs's tractoring along, the looks on peoples face's when we overtake them on the motorway on our "mopeds" sheer class
go for it _________________

Get one for sure, like you say its far more sociable than the bike scene. Ive had a few bikes but always sold them and kept scootering. The GT range is brilliant, maybe though you need at least the 300 or even a Nexus as your used to faster stuff
Just one thing, with any scene youll find some people who wont be sociable and in scootering there are a fair number who just wont accept the auto Vespas... but there are enough who do so jump in there. |

Like most that have posted i got my first scooter when i was 17. Im now 44 and have always had a scooter apart from about 2 years. In that time i have had bikes on and off too. The scooter scene is where its at, i have been to The Bulldog bash as well as others. But scooter rallies are what still gives me the buzz even after 27 years.
The GTS range in my eyes is a cross between a traditional scooter and a motorbike. They handle like bikes but have the styling and class of a scooter.
Go for it and enjoy. |
