I'm guessing the majority of people on here have come from trad' 2 stroke scoots. We've probably all tuned em to some degree.

Now we're riding 4 strokes. Whole new technology. What can we do?

We've got after market variators, rollers, pipes. Malossi offered a high lift cam for the GT, haven't heard if it's compatible with the GTS. We've played with larger tyres, adding screens (both to good effect).

What else can we do?

There was something on the net soon after the introdction of the GT200 about a CAD design for a supercharger (or turbo, I can't remember which) for the leader engine but it would've cost thousands to develop.
Oz is a respected tuner of race cars and I've seen him offer to reprofile heads (experimentally).
A mate of mine (Darren English if anyone knows him) who'd love to play with my scoots valves.

So what I'm really asking is what else can we do? Where can we go to learn more? Is there anyone out there with the knowledge already? Oh, and what's it likely to cost?

Not asking too much am I?
Shocked

Cam is compatible, as is the malossi valves and valve springs. Re-profiled of gas flowed head is a lot of money for very little gain. Turbo or supercharger would not be straightforward as it is injection and not carb so would need a custom map, bigger injector, throttle body.
The best person to talk to is Russ on scooter scene or Rhoodman on here, Russ's done most of it and considdered lot of other options. At the end of the day there is still the rev limiter to call a halt on it all.

There is a far more cost effective way I can make mine go quicker, and all i've got to do is loose five stone Rolling Eyes Laughing Laughing

For higher top speed you want a small windscreen and a larger rear tyre. But the windscren will generate a lot more wind noise.

For better acceleration generally you want an aftermarket variator - J.Costa or Polini with Dr.Pulley sliders.

For faster take-off fit stronger clutch springs - I recommend Malossi yellow ones.

An exhaust (PM?) will give a tiny bit more speed and power, but is mainly for looks and noise.

The Malossi camshaft gives a bit more power, and can be fitted quite easily without removing the engine.

I would say the mods that give the most results are the windscreen and J.Costa variator.

Mike
