|
|
After many, many cold but fog-free rides wearing my Shoei Multitec, it's suddenly actually *causing* fogging. The friggin surrounding visor had no fog and the pin-lock insert had a lovely, even, thin fog. Doh!
I *did* fiddle with it a couple of days ago - fog was beginning to creep in the edge, so I removed it and wiped the seal, which was dirty, hence the leaking. The ride back that night - which was cold - it stopped the fogging brilliantly and did do a few cold rides since. This morning? Fog frikkin city.
Looking at it now it seems fine - the seal (which is like an ovel of clear bathroom sealent has been piped around the edge) is looking clean and unbroken and still flexible. The visor looks fine too *shrug*.
Maybe it actually froze in the garage overnight and ice got 'pushed' under and caused trapped condensation?
Anyway - long story for a small issue! I'm avoiding starting work... Anyone else have this and what did you do?
I'm just gonna clean it all up and let it dry out thoroughly and put it back together. _________________ Do two and 1/4 rallies mean I'm not a scoot noob anymore? |

Yep I'm always avoiding work.
But seriously, the pin lock is great when it works but when it fails it's down right dangerous, because when you flip the visor up to de-fog it doesn't work, as much as when its working it keeps the moisture out, it seals it in too. Mine got so bad on the way back from Mersea this year I just removed it.
Only thing to do is keep it clean, it may have worn though and needs replacing?
Personally I wouldn't keep my lid in the garage I keep mine in the house. _________________

the little pins that hold the inner visor on are concentric, like cams, so when you turn them you can adjust the fit of the inner visor to the helmet visor, play with the pin positions until you have a nice tight seal between inner and helmet visor. _________________

Ah hah! You must have read the instructions
I'll try that - no idea what 'setting' it was on before, but I'll try an adjustment.
EDIT: Not sure about the adjustment in or out, but one thing I just noticed is that the pins had worked loose - they pushed back up tight, but I'll have to keep an eye on the because the seal definitely fails when they are not pushed together tight. _________________ Do two and 1/4 rallies mean I'm not a scoot noob anymore? |

if you get no joy it may be that you need a new insert, they do lose their ability to work over time.......... _________________

I spose the silicon seal could petrify/rot/wear and the pins get looser and looser Either way I reckon I'm gonna ride with a spare visor from now on - couldn't see fook all this morning with visor down and it was bloody cold with the visor open!
That and I keep finding myself riding in the dark with the tinted visor on... _________________ Do two and 1/4 rallies mean I'm not a scoot noob anymore? |

I had a double visor thing and never adjusted the little cams properly
Went down the m1 and 90ish and the inside visor flew out, i even grabbed it safely at that speed i was very impressed
The lid is shit without it, i still dont know how to set it _________________

if you look at the pins on the visor you will see that they have a small point/blip on the diameter which indicates where the cam is so making it easy to line the two pins up _________________ Darkside, Norwich Broadsmen SC

Well it was better on the way home last night but not back to 'perfect' like before
Condensation kept creeping into one side. Hmm. More fiddling.
I guess twisting the pins so it's too tight will maybe 'lift' the ends - too loose and it won't clamp down properly... hmm _________________ Do two and 1/4 rallies mean I'm not a scoot noob anymore? |
