Just spoke to Webster at MSC and he tells me the Scorpion pipe for the 250 works equally as well on the 300, if this is the case then i think im going to try one after christmas, does this sound right, or is it bollox? he also says theres no need to dis-connect the battery while you change the pipe and leave it idling for 10 minutes or so, like some people have suggested on here, and that the bike only takes 30 seconds or so to re adjust to the new exhaust, can anyone confirm any of this?

The scorpion is not well thought of on this site as a number of members have had failiures. (do a quick search on the forum for topics on scorpion and amke your own mind up though) Personally I've had the LV and the PM and can whole heartedly recommend the PM. LV is good the PM is better.....

The scorpions dont have the best reputation for build quality, although from what ive heard the new ones are better...
The bike will instantly adjust the fueling for the exhaust automatically, the lambda sensor is correcting the fueling constantly... but thats not the reason to disconnect the battery, the battery disconnect is to wipe the ECUs short term RAM which is basically where its stored the info about your riding style... you can leave it alone and it will eventually change it, but it will take a good few miles to re-evaluate in that time you might have flat spots, hesitation, slight misfiring etc etc... disconnecting the battery forces it to learn straight away as it has no previous information to use. |

CheekyT am I reading this right? Disconnecting the battery has benfits, what about 10 mins of idling? Does that have benefit? Or does it just make the icu think you go everywhere at idling speeds?

I have spoken to scorpion and they say this is the mk2 pipe with twin straps, not the original version that was nt up to much, my mate works there and he s gonna build it himself, so hopefully i ll get a good one, gonna fit it at my first service just after christmas, will let you know how it performs.

Well its a yes no answer... depends whats happened, and what you want to do...
Idling for 10mins does nothing.... other than allow the engine to warm up.
If youve changed something on the fueling or exhaust system then yes disconnecting the battery for 10mins will force the ECU to re-evaluate your riding style and adjust to best meet your requirements...
...but theres no need to regularly wipe the ECU as its learning your riding style for a reason, to provide the smoothest fueling for how you ride... to reduce flat spots and hesitation etc.
It should be wiped every service as part of the ECU work, along with ECU updating and the usual fault code work, you should always reset to base parameters and zero the throttle etc... |

My scorpion broke loads of times. scorpion think its the bracket that was weak. so they added another one and makes all scoots look crap
As a matter of fact the rivets came away and mine split at the end of the can.
The flange in the head also broke and i had to do 30 miles spitting flames out of the exhaust all the way home. the bracket held the exhaust even though it wasnt connected to anything just fine
2 straps ;look awful anyway

Personally I love Scorpions, they're not too loud but sound nice. Look good, the finish is good and since having the 2 strap one I've had no problems. The other good thing is that they will sort out any problems without quibbling, more than can be said for many other manufacturers and they appreciate feedback, good or bad to improve future designs.

Had the Scorpion fitted today, done about 15/20 miles, sounds really good, looks even better, hopefully wont have any problems, will keep you posted.
