Picture heavy post.... sorry!

A few piccys of the Edge and its workings...

Basically the edge comes in this little triangle packaging...

Remove the securing band and the lid turns round revealing the inside... a Flashcard and a microsd reader... all else you need is a microsd card. The edge takes upto 32gb microsd inc sdhc..

Basically the flashcard itself is a normal DS game shell, with some computer chip inside and a microsd card slot...

Download the 3 edge game files needed to work, and stick some roms on the microsd card, then put it into the edge card.

Now load the EDGE into the DS like you would a normal game...

Now switch it on and youll get an initial BOOTING screen...

...and then the EDGE homepage will appear.

You can change the backgrounds and buttons etc... heres one ive done for someone for christmas.. gotta put a picture of her dog on the bottom screen and change the icons for bones... its work in progress for now.

When you select the games folder (and then sub folders if you have them)...

you will get the title of the game and a small icon, you can change this from a list of games to scroll through, to one game at a time, but i find the whole list is easier to flick through... find the game and touch it and bingo it loads and plays like a normal DS game.

The only other thing worth mentioning, is how you put files on the microsd card, the edge only needs 3 folders of info you download from there website... you then need to add games which are .nds files (older cards needed a program to change them from .nds into other formats to make them work, these are now obsolete and its pure rom dumps in .nds format thats needed) Now just drag and drop them from the net/Cd etc onto the memory card... the maximum you can have is 128...

BUT if you want more make games folders, so have game folder1 with 128games in it, then folder2 with another 128 and so on... like this

Thats a similar card called the EDGE, a mate has a 360 repair shop and sells them as a side line, so ive sold a few for him for commission to boost my income over the past couple of years...

The original ones needed 2 pieces of hardware and conversion software to work, but the new ones are like shown in the pictures...

If you can be bothered to read all the above youll know how it works now, basically its a blank DS cartridge with memorycard reader and a simple flash program installed. You OBTAIN games, put them on the memory card and the DS can then pick a game and load it like an original... obviously theres no machine tampering so it doesnt effect the warranty etc...

You can use it to also play music videos etc, but to be honest the DS isnt great for doing it, but they like mentioning it in adverts to make them sound wonderful and mask the fact its a pirate game player Laughing

The Edge cards are normally about £25 and £15 for a 8GB memory stick which is about 300 games worth.... sold loads.

The TT card from mymemory isnt one ive dabbled in much, the Edge is a slightly better card from the point of ease to modify and running videos etc on.... but as a cheap way of getting your kids a unlimited supply of free DS games its brilliant and more than worth the £19.99 in my opinion, after all its the price of one new DS game really, and instead of taking a few game cartridges about, it can store about 100 games on its supplied memory card.

so this plugs into a USB port on your computer to download game files from a site?

interested but not very "up to speed" with this sort of thing........

my 6 year old has a DS lite so this would be interesting.....

No you have to flash the 360 and then it will play back ups... but xbox live becomes risky... i do that as well Embarassed

And no it doesnt really plug into the computer, it uses a memory card which you connect to a computer to put games onto.. then you put the memory card into the device. The DS then loads games from the memory card...

Most DS games are 16-64MB in size.. some like Zelda are 128MB.

connect flash drive with card in to the PC, download, remove card, put card in DS, play.....

is that right Question

Sort of... the flash card doesnt go anywhere near a PC... just the removeable memory card Wink

But yes thats roughly right.. as close as it needs to be.

A normal everyday DS card has a fixed memory internally, the flashcards are the same cartridge but with a memory card slot and a small program to make the DS believe its a proper cartridge... the memory card is used for game storage.

Cheeky,
Did you get the edge card from your mate, or the TT?
Been looking at getting junior one of these but don't trust asian markets to take my money and actually send to goods out - been caught out once before.

If there's a uk seller, I'd be very interested.

Beware of the R4 cards... the company has gone bust, any that say they take cards bigger than 2gb are fakes, normally G5 cards rebadged and tend to last a week then die.

If it comes with a proper R4 cd and wont take more than 2gb card your safe.
