I want to take the belt cover off to check inside and make sure all is well, never done it before, how do I take the chrome Vespa cover off without breaking it? Any other tips or advice? It's on a 2005 250.

genyly ease the chrome cover off with a small screwdriver, there are 3 slots where the pegs are,
you then have to undo the clutch nut (18mm socket) you will have to hold the rear wheel still for this using the rear brake or idealy a clutch holding tool
then its just a case of undoing the bolts that hold the cover in place and gently ease the cover off, it might be a bit tight as it has two locating dowels
good luck _________________ Darkside, Norwich Broadsmen SC

Thanks for that. So the chrome cover is just a push fit then? |

yes it has 3 pegs that fit into the case, be gentle and don't force it off as they can snap off _________________ Darkside, Norwich Broadsmen SC

Dont forget to move the airbox upwards as well as you need the clearance to get the case over the dipstick tube. |

I could do with them! Couldn't get the clutch nut undone by just holding the brake in it still kept turning. Couldn't get the 8mm case nuts undone either as my socket is too thick to reach the nut. |

An impact driver is good for loosening the clutch and variator nuts, but NEVER use one for tightening them again. You MUST use a torque wrench.
You find find a considerable amount of re-tooling is required to maintain a GTS.
You will also find a lot of useful advice here and on Modernvespa. Some of us have been trained as Vespa technicians, and a lot of us (like me)have learned the hard way.
Good luck.

try to use a 1/4 0r 3/8 drive deep socket as they have a thiner wall, my case is held on by M6 allen bolts which are a bit easier to reach with a allen key/'T' bar _________________ Darkside, Norwich Broadsmen SC
