some of you may have heard a soldier was shot and killed in Afghanistan on monday, well his name was Lt. Aaron Lewis, he was part of our family and we sent packages to him while he was serving overseas. His loss is deeply felt as are all losses for our uniformed services. all i want to say really is that when you see the collecting tins out for "help for heros" etc spare a few coins.....

Lt Aaron Lewis R.I.P.

Shocked Terrible loss mate and yes I will contribute as suggested. I and my family and friends are all without exception truly grateful of the sacrifices made on our behalf by our armed forces. My heartfelt sympathy.

What a terrible loss. I've got a mate who's just come back for 2 weeks r&r and goes back on Christmas eve. We're right in the middle of Salisbury Plain here so fairly know about it when the lads are getting ready. Brave guys.

Really sorry to hear of your familys loss, you take care of each other this Christmas.

I can only echo what others have said, I am ex-forces myself and I am a veteran of both Iraq and Afganistan. I have seen/experienced the shite that is happening out there and it is not good. All our armed forces are worth their weight in gold and are humble with it, in their eyes they are not brave or heroes, they are just doing a job. We should all support them via H4H's and Poppy appeal etc.

The good news is that, fingers crossed our lads will be home from Iraq by end of July.........lets get them out of Afgainistan as well!!!!

Take care

Sorry to hear about the sad news Maver, all the best to your family at this difficult time.

I've been doing some work with a group of soldiers recently, they're from the 1st Medics and they're doing a charity ride by battered old Army motorbikes from their base in Munster to Timbuktu in Africa. They're raising money for Help for Heroes along the way.

Use the link below and you can donate to this great cause online rather than waiting for a tin to be rattled.

Not a lot anyone can say at times like this, accept sorry for your loss and comfort should be taken from the fact that he did his country proud.

Like Doug says not good time of year for this (not that there is a good time, just some are worse) Crying or Very sad

It really puts some of the rest of our problems into perspective.

RIP.

Very sad news Mav, and another reality check. It might be all doom and gloom in the Uk at the mo, but its nowt compared to what these lads and lasses go through on a daily basis.
